Sunday, November 10

Man Kicks Woman in Chest

Daniel Wedrall, 49, was arrested for battery after he kicked a woman in the chest when she refused to give him money. Police said Wedrall, who is homeless, approached the woman on Harlem Avenue about 12:35 a.m. and when she refused to give him money, he kicked her in the chest. Wedrall was taken into custody, processed and released.

DUI

Police charged Ubaldo Molina, 33, of Chicago, with driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop on North Avenue about 2:30 a.m. His blood alcohol content was .156, police said. He was charged with DUI, and other traffic-related offenses.

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone damaged a light pole in Priory Park, 7300 Division St., about 10 a.m. 

Disorderly Conduct

A resident in the 500 block of Bonnie Brae Street reported a 76-year-old resident had moved her landscaping decorations and crafts and turned over her garbage cans about 10:20 a.m. Police said the items moved because of high winds and that the resident was not at fault. Officers were alerted to the incident and will keep and extra watch in the area. 

Friday, November 8

Identity Theft

A resident reported someone had opened a Verizon Wireless account in her name and that she received a bill for $299.00. The resident contacted the Verizon fraud department and was informed that she must make a police report. 

Wallet Stolen

A woman reported someone stole her wallet when she was grocery shopping at Whole Foods Market about 2 p.m. Thursday. She said she noticed the wallet was missing when she went to pay for her groceries, but had used it while shopping at Jewel before going to Whole Foods. Upon discovering her wallet was missing she attempted to cancel her TCF card and learned someone had used the card to make a purchase at the Walgreens, police said.

Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property

A woman in her 60s stole a cell phone that had slipped out of a woman's purse at DSW. The offender left the store in a Chevy Traverse and drove east on Central toward Harlem, police said. 

Tuesday, November 5

Credit Card Fraud

A resident of the 700 block of Monroe Street reported someone tried to by a $500 iPad on his VISA credit card without permission. Police said the offender may live in San Diego, CA. The report is under investigation. 

Friend May Have Stolen Electronics

A resident in the 7200 block of LeMoyne Avenue reported a friend may have stolen more than $500 in electronics from his home after spending the night. The report is under investigation.

Sunday, November 3

DUI, Reckless Driving

Police charged Fernando Valdiva, 28, of Chicago, with driving under the influence of alcohol after he hit two cars and abandoned his car in Chicago about 2 a.m. 

Police said Valdiva drove about 54 mph in a 30 mph zone on North Avenue and then turned onto a one-way street in the wrong direction, struck a median and two parked vehicles before abandoning his car with the keys in the ignition. 

Validiva was charged with several offenses including DUI, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Eluding and other traffic related violations. 

Felony Retail Theft, Battery

Police charged Kelly Smith, 35, and Byron Auterberry, 38, of Chicago, with felony retail theft after they stole Red Bull and Enfamil baby formula from Jewel about 3 p.m. 

When security officers tried to stop Smith, Auterberry pushed the loss prevention employee and both then fled the store in a blue pick-up truck. They were arrested in the 200 block of Harlem in Forest Park. 

Smith was charged with Felony Retail Theft over $300 and Auterberry was charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft and Battery.

Friday, November 1

Warrant: Failure to Appear 

Police charged Kenneth Robinson, 46, of Bolivar, TN, with a warrant out of Douglas County for failure to appear during a traffic stop about 3:30 p.m. Robinson was taken into custody and held for extradition by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
