Jasmin Salas was trying to move past her abusive relationship with Justino Correa, who is accused of stabbing her to death and leaving her body in Thatcher Woods, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Jasmin Salas, 20, a Chicago woman who was five months pregnant when she was stabbed to death and dumped in River Forest's Thatcher Woods Thursday night, was balancing a job and classes to become a social worker, because she wanted to help people, Salas' brother told the Chicago Tribune

Salas also had a four-year-old daughter with the man who is accused of murdering her, and was trying to move past the abusive relationship she ended with him two years ago, according to the Tribune.

Justino Correa, 19, is being held without bond in Cook County Jail on first-degree murder charges. He is accused of stabbing Salas to death and leaving her body in a plastic bin in the woods, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Her remains were found in River Forest's Thatcher Woods, in the 8100 block of Chicago Avenue, at about 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. According to the Tribune, Correa confessed to killing Salas when police arrived at Norwegian-American hospital Thursday night.

Correa is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court Wednesday, Oct. 31.
