Fatal Crash Kills Bellwood Man Friday in Forest Park
The driver crossed into the opposite lane of traffic before hitting a light pole at Madison and Lathrop.
A 63-year-old Bellwood man was killed in a one-car accident in Forest Park early Friday morning, according to police.
The man was identified as Carter Thompson Jr., according to Forest Park Deputy Chief Tom Aftanas. He was driving east on Madison at a high rate of speed, lost control of his car and crossed into the west-bound lanes, then struck a light pole at Madison and Lathrop, Aftanas said. His car came to rest at Des Plaines and Madison.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, Aftanas said. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
