Feces Smeared on Windshield

Someone smeared feces and flour on the front windshield of a work vehicle parked in the 400 block of South Grove Avenue between 6 p.m. Sept. 28 and 6 a.m. Sept. 29.

Man Beaten With Scooter for Trying to Stop Theft

A 43-year-old Oak Park man was beaten with a Razor scooter after he tried to stop a man from stealing it Thursday in the 300 block of South Cuyler Avenue.

Police said the man got off the Green Line train with the offender about 1:10 p.m. and saw him pick up an unattended scooter and start to ride it away. The man, thinking he witnessed a theft, asked for a passerby to call police and called for the offender to stop. 

The offender, who was about 20, approached the man and hit him in the arm, torso and ribcage with the scooter, then dropped it and ran, police said. 

Vandals Give Sage Advice: "Stay in Skool, Livestrong"

Someone spray painted random phrases including, "Stay in skool," "Livestrong," and "Lulu," in an alley in the 200 block of North Harvey Avenue between 5:45 p.m. Sept. 25 and 8 a.m. Sept. 26.

Do Not Come Between the Man, His Beer and His Birthday Cake

Police charged Sami Merabet, 51, of the 1200 block of Morgan Street in La Grange Park, with assault and disorderly conduct about 7:20 p.m.

Police responded to a call about a verbal disturbance between neighbors, where two people reported they were confronted by Merabet, who said, “If you have a problem with me… I can take you out to the woods and kick your (explitive).”

Merabet told police he did confront the neighbors and threatened to batter the man. He said he was baking a cake for his birthday and drinking beer when the neighbors got home and came to his front door, yelling at him about moving his van. He said he got frustrated and shouldn’t have done it, police said.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and assault, given an Oct. 9 court date and released.

Unwanted Window Washer

A woman at La Grange Art League, 122 W. Calendar St., reported a man was washing the windows about 1 p.m. She had assumed he was hired to wash the windows, but realized he wasn’t when he asked for $5 when he finished. She gave him the money so he would go away, then called police.

Laser Pointer Disturbs Pizza Patrons

A woman reported a man who was shining a laser pointer at patrons outside D'inico’s, 42 S. La Grange Rd., from across the street about 12:40 a.m.
