Flea Meds Swiped from Pet Store
Authorities exploring link between recent thefts of pricey medication.
Boxes of flea and tick treatments valued at more than $6,000 were stolen from PetCo by a crew who may be responsible for recent thefts from pet stores throughout the Chicago area, police said.
According to authorities, two men and one woman walked into the store, 7265 Lake St., shortly before noon on June 25 and cleaned the store out of medication.
The treatments usually are kept under lock and key but were not at the time of the theft, authorities said. Investigators said the items can cost as much as $180 a box and are in high demand. Company officials with PetCo are investigating.
