Good Samaritan Tries to Catch El Thieves Who Stole Purse
Man chases crooks two blocks in Oak Park before losing them.
An eyewitness to a purse-snatching attempted to catch two men who stole a purse off the lap of a CTA Blue Line rider Dec. 23 in Oak Park, police said.
The incident took place on the westbound CTA Blue Line either at or before the Oak Park Avenue stop, police said.
Around 4 a.m. Dec. 23 two men - one wearing a red hoodie and dark pants and the other wearing a patterned hoodie - approached the 18-year-old victim sitting with her purse on her lap. One man grabbed the purse and both then walked through the train and got off at the Harlem Avenue stop in Forest Park.

An eyewitness, who police did not identify, saw the two men get off the train, exited himself and then chased the pair two blocks south to Harvard Street before losing sight of them; he then called police.
Oak Park police didn't know if the victim got off the train at that point. Harlem Avenue is the next to the last stop on the west bound Blue Line.
