Heroin Arrest, 3D TV Stolen: Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, May 9-16.

THURSDAY, MAY 16

Heroin Arrest

Whitney O. Westbrooks, 23, of the 2700 block of Cherie Lane in Ottawa, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. 

Police said a officer saw a plastic baggie fall from her shirt in the 600 block of N. Austin. She was found in possession of two baggies containing less than 1 gram of heroin, police said.

Wallet Stolen

A wallet was taken from a gym bag when it was left unattended at a business in the 800 block of North Boulevard. The wallet contained about $300 in cash, misceallaneous credit cards and an ID. The estimated loss is $375.

Residential Burglary

A home in the 400 block of S. Taylor was burglarized, with about $2,480 in items stolen. The items stolen include a 56-inch Toshiba 3D flat screen TV, two pairs of 3D glasses, two black Nikon camera lenses and change.

Car Burglary

Someone burglarized a car in the 300 block of S. Elmwood. The items stolen include a Tom-Tom GPS unit, a black Apple iPod Touch, a power Milwaukee angle grinder, a red Milwaukee drill, a red Milwaukee impact driver and a charger. The estimated loss was $1,140. 

Retail Theft

Jose Nieves, 35, of the 2600 block of W. Cermak in Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft in Oak Park.

MONDAY, MAY 13

License Plates Stolen

A license plate was removed from a car parked in the 700 block of Erie. Another plate was taken from a car in the same block. 

Warrant Arrest 

Mshai P. Hekau, 38, of Chicago, was booked on a warrant for his arrest for a previous charge of obstructing identification with Forest Park police. 

Residential Burglary

A 32-inch Emerson flat screen TV from a home in the 1000 block of N. Austin. The estimated loss was $500, and police say the burglary occurred between May 9 and May 13.  

FRIDAY, MAY 10

School Window Pane Broken 

Someone damaged a window at Henry Wadsworth School in the 700 block of Highland. 

THURSDAY, MAY 9

Property Damage

An air conditioning unit in the 200 block of Madison was damaged.
