Man Charged With Theft From 14-Year-Old: Oak Park Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, Oct. 23-26.

FRIDAY, OCT. 26

Vehicle Burglarized

An Oak Park resident reported that their vehicle was burglarized sometime between 8:45 p.m. Oct. 25 and 12:32 a.m. Oct. 26 in the 500 block of Highland. Someone entered the victim's garage through an unlocked service door and then stole a stereo CD player from the car. The estimated loss was $150.

THURSDAY, OCT. 25

Business Burglarized

A business in the 200 block of Lake Street was reported burglarized between 11:50 p.m. Oct. 24 and 6:09 a.m. Oct. 25. Someone broke the front door glass windowpane and stole $100 from a cash register. The total loss was estimated at $1,100.

Home Burglarized

A home in the 400 block of Washington was reported burglarized between midnight and 2:28 p.m. Someone entered the home through an unlocked back door and stole $6 from the victim's wallet.

Theft Arrest

Dorian Smith-Ward, 19, of the 100 block of south Kenilworth, was charged with theft. The victim was a 14-year-old and the theft reportedly occurred in the 900 block of Pleasant at about 4:42 p.m. Smith-Ward was later released on bond.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24

Door Damaged

A resident in the 100 block of Kenilworth reported at about 9:30 a.m. that someone damaged the front door of their home by piercing the wood by unknown means. The damage was estimated at $25.

Car Burglarized

A resident of the 200 block of south East Avenue reported that someone entered their vehicle overnight and stole $25 in coins and cash.

Screens, Windows Broken

A resident of the 1000 block of Gunderson reported that someone damaged numerous window screens and a pane of glass on their home overnight by unknown means. The damage was reported at $300.

iPhone Stolen

A Oak Park resident reported that a white iPhone with a pink case was stolen between 7:50 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Oak Park River Forest High School from a backpack while it was stored in an unlocked gym locker. The loss was reported as $420.

TUESDAY, OCT. 23

Retail Theft

Police reported that two bottles of detergent were stolen from a pharmacy in the 300 block of Madison Street around 6:50 p.m. The suspect was described as a man between 40-50 years old, weighing about 190 pounds and wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt basketball jersey. He fled south on Madison on a bike. The reported loss was $30.
