I-290 Crash Near Oak Park Kills 2, Injures 1

Drunk driver drives onto I-290 in the wrong direction and strikes the car of three women, killing two, Oak Leaves reports.

Two women were killed and a third was seriously injured Saturday when their car was hit by a minivan driving the wrong way on the Eisenhower Expressway, Oak Leaves reported Saturday.

Forest Park Deputy Police Chief Tom Aftanas said the crash, which occurred near Harlem Avenue, happened about 1:46 a.m. Saturday. According to Oak Leaves, the minivan entered eastbound lanes of the expressway going the wrong way and collided with a blue Ford carrying the three women.

Authorities told Oak Leaves the driver of the minivan was drunk. According to CBS ChicagoMiguel Rico, 20, of Chicago, has been arrested and is being held in Cook County Jail without bond for a probation violation. He's scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Services have been set for the victims, Monica Hernandez, 20, of Maywood, and Briana Resto, 19, of Northlake. 

Visitation for Hernandez will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Bormann Funeral Home, 1600 Chicago Ave. in Melrose Park. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 23rd Avenue and Augusta in Melrose Park. 

Resto's wake will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at De La Torre Funeral Home, 2708 N. Western Ave. in Chicago. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at the same location, according to CBS Chicago.
