Locker Thefts, Cars Burglarized, Purse Snatched and More: Oak Park Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports: Sept. 12-13.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 12

Theft from Locker

An unknown person entered a locker in the 1100 block of Lake Street, police learned at about 9 p.m. The victim's North Face duffle bag was stolen along with a leather wallet and a Samsung Galaxy phone, which were in the bag. The total loss was estimated at $845.

Purse Snatched

A Chicago resident reported to police at about 11 a.m. a man approached her in the 0-100 block of Madison Avenue and grabbed her black Gucci purse, which contained $74, her IDs and debit cards, out of her hands. The purse-snatcher fled on foot north to Austin Boulevard and got into a gray Chevy Malibu that then drove south of Austin Boulevard. The total loss was estimated at $450.

Theft at Gym

An Oak Park resident reported to police at 11:49 a.m. that someone stole an iPhone out of the their book back while it was in an unlocked locker at their health club. The estimated loss was $564.

Domestic Battery Arrest

Kimberly A. Thompson-Mayo, 44, of the 1100 block of Cuyler Avenue in Oak Park, was charged with domestic battery after she struck her sister-in-law in her face, causing a minor cut, police reported at 5:11 p.m. Thompson-Mayo is due in court on Sept. 20.

Retail Theft Arrest

Earnestine Bass, 48, of the 500 block of north Hamlin in Chicago was charged with retail theft in the 200 block of Lake Street, police reported at 7:35 p.m. Bass attempted to steal a bottle of Tanqueray Gin, police said.

Apartment Burglary

Someone broke into an Oak Park resident's apartment in the 0-100 block of north Austin Boulevard sometime between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. The burglar entered the home through an unlocked rear door and ransacked the living room and bedroom, police said. A black iPad and a Playstation II console with two controllers were stolen. Police estimated the total loss at $1,200.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 11

Missing Juvenile Returned Home

A 17-year-old Oak Park resident who was reported missing returned home, police learned at about 11:45 p.m.

Jeep Burglarized

A Jeep Wrangler was broken into in the 700 block of North Boulevard on the fourth floor of a garage at about 8:39 p.m. The burglar sliced open the rear plastic window of the Jeep and stole about $5 in change. With the damage done to the vehicle, the total loss was estimated at $155.

Car Window Forced Open

An unknown person broke into an Oak Park resident's vehicle by forcing down a partially open window in the 700 block of North Boulevard at 11:15 p.m. Once inside the vehicle, the burglar stole about $2 in change.
