Man Robbed on Elmwood, Juvenile Had Stolen Car: Police

Sunday, November 10 

Purse, Wallet, Checks Stolen

Someone stole a BCBG purse containing a Michael Kors wallet, a bank card, $40, three $50 money orders and a cell phone in the 400 block of North Harlem Avenue at 4:20 p.m. The total estimated loss is $560, police said. 

Jacket, Keys Stolen From Coat Rack

Someone stole a suede jacket containing house keys from a coat rack in the 800 block of West Lake Street between 9:30 and 9:35 a.m. The offender was seen wearing a brown vest and brown pants. The total estimated loss is $100, police said. 

Saturday, November 9

Juvenile Charged With Possession of Stolen Car

Police charged an Oak Park juvenile with possession of a car that was stolen in the 200 block of West Lake Street about 10:40 a.m. The juvenile was given a court date and released to a parent, police said. 

Warrant: Parole Violation

Police charged Larry Gaylor, 31, of Chicago, with a warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections for violation of parole for a larceny charge. He was processed and turned over to IDOC. 

Burglary: Laptops, Tiffany Necklace Stolen

Someone used a pry tool to break into a home in the 800 block of South Harvey Avenue and stole two laptops and a silver Tiffany necklace between 3 and 8 p.m. The total estimated loss is $2,250, police said. 

Break-in Attempt on Ridgeland

Someone tried to break into a building in the 100 block of North Ridgeland Avenue with a pry tool between 1 a.m. Nov. 5 and 10 a.m. Nov. 9. The estimated cost of damage is $50, police said. 

Plate Taken From Porch

Someone stole a boiler plate from a porch in the 400 block of South Taylor Street between 7 a.m. and noon. The total estimated loss is $50, police said. 

Friday, November 8

iPad Stolen

Someone stole an iPad from a foyer area in a building in the 200 block of North Kenilworth Avenue between 8:10 and 8:45 a.m. The total estimated loss is $844, police said. 

Warrant: Failure to Appear

Police charged Konrad Kalinski, 34, of Chicago, with a warrant out of Chicago for failure to appear for retail theft in the 200 block of West Lake Street about 2:30 p.m. 

Juvenile Charged With Bike Theft

Police charged a Chicago juvenile with theft for stealing a bike in the 700 block of North Harvey Avenue. He was processed and released to his grandmother. 

Thursday, November 7

Backpack, iPhone Stolen in School

Someone stole a leather "Knights" jacket, an iPhone and a backpack containing a lunchbox and school supplies from a locker at Brooks Middle School between 8:50 and 11:20 a.m. The total estimated loss is $490, police said. 

Wednesday, November 6

Man Robbed on Elmwood

Two men robbed a man from behind in the 400 block of South Elmwood Avenue about 3:10 p.m. Police said one of the offenders grabbed the man from behind and removed his leather coat while the other offender stole cash. They both fled east in an alley. The total estimated loss is $160, police said. 

Office Break-in Reported

Someone pried open a door to break into an office in the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road. The loss is unknown.

Car Break-ins

Someone tried to break the lock of a Chevy Sienna parked in the 6500 block of Roosevelt Road between 11:25 and 11:50 a.m. The estimated cost of damage is $100, police said. 

Someone broke into a Toyota Tacoma parked in the 800 block of South Harvey Avenue, ransacked the interior and stole cash between 11 p.m. Nov. 5 and 10 a.m. Nov. 6. The total estimated loss is $1,000, police said. 

Monday, November 4

iPhone Stolen

Someone stole an iPhone from a women's locker room in the 300 block of South Kenilworth Avenue between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. The total estimated loss is $130, police said. 

Bike Thefts

  • Nov. 8: Someone stole a $300 bike from a yard in the 900 block of South East Avenue between 3:50 and 4 p.m. 
  • Nov. 7-8: Someone stole a $400 bike from an unlocked garage in the 1100 block of Clarence Avenue between 8 a.m. Nov. 7 and 10 p.m. Nov. 8. 
  • Nov. 9: Someone stole a $250 bike from a yard in the 1100 block of South Oak Park Avenue between midnight and 10 a.m.
