UPDATED: Man in Critical Condition After Oak Park Shooting

A 50-year-old Oak Park man is in critical, but stable, condition with shoulder and jaw wounds after a shooting Thursday evening, police say.

A man who was shot in an alley in the 900 block of Taylor Avenue may have been in an argument at work, according to a Wednesday Journal report.

Police are investigating the shooting in the 900 block of North Taylor Avenue just after 6 p.m. Thursday, when they found James Wilson, 50, inside near his basement apartment bleeding, but conscious.

He was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood with injuries to his jaw and shoulder, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition Friday morning, police said.

"Indications are that Wilson knew his assailant," but officials have not determined a motive for the shooting, police said.

The Journal reported police went to interview a woman who works with Wilson at the Berkeley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and were looking at the co-worker's brother as a possible suspect.

The homeowner of the building where Wilson lives told the Chicago Sun-Times she'd told Wilson he had to move of the basement apartment out by June 8, and that she heard two loud bangs before Wilson banged on the door of her home, asking her to call 911.
