Man With Weed Flees Stranded Car: Police Blotter

Also, lots of meat stolen and an aggravated DUI charge. River Forest police reports, April 9-14.

TUESDAY, APRIL 9

Man With Weed Flees Stranded Car

Darren P. Knutson, 35, of the 1400 block of N. Fairfield Ave. was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.

Police responded to a call reporting a stranded car near the intersection of Hawthorne St. and Thatcher St. The driver, Knutson, left the car along with a juvenile companion. They were later found and police discovered Knutson had 21 grams of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe on him, police said. A records check indicated that he was also driving on a suspended license.

Car Found on Cinder Blocks 

At about 8 a.m., police responded to call at the 700 block of Forest Ave. that the wheels and tires had been stolen off of a 2011 Honda parked in a driveway. The resident of the house found the car up on cinder blocks.

FRIDAY, APRIL 12

Meat Stolen

Graham Baker, 47, of the 500 block of Des Plaines Ave., was charged with felony retail theft. Police said he tried to steal $79 in meat products from the North Ave. Dominicks. Baker’s charges were upgraded to a felony because of a 2005 theft conviction.

SUNDAY, APRIL 14

Aggravated DUI  

Brian Perez, 25, of 7300 block of White Oak Place in Hammond, IN, was charged with aggravated DUI, driving on a suspended license and other traffic violations at 2 a.m. after police saw him speeding southbound on Thatcher St.

Once stopped, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana coming off Perez. He failed field sobriety tests and after police took him into custody, a breathalyzer test indicated Perez had a blood-alcohol content of .194.
