A 15-year-old from Maywood will be petitionted to juvenile court for unlawful use of a weapon after police found a .380 semi-automatic pistol he'd thrown in the bushes, police said.
Authorities said around 6:35 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, officers responded to the alley at the rear of the 7300 block of Holly Court after a resident reported that three suspicious males who did not live in the neighborhood were walking there.
As officers arrived, they observed the three subjects in the 500 block of William Street at Quick Avenue. As they approached, one of the teens appeared to reach inside his coat and then throw an object into nearby bushes.

As additional officers arrived, that policeman searched the bushes and recovered a chrome colored .380 semi-automatic pistol. The subject who discarded the pistol was searched and police said they found women’s jewelry in his possession.
The investigation is continuing to determine the identification of the owner of the jewelry. A petition to juvenile court on additional offenses could take place, River Forest Dep. Chief Craig Rutz said.
