More Oak Park Police Blotter: Cell Phones, Video Games Snatched

Arrest warrants, batteries also reported.

The following items are taken from  daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Residential Burglary: A laptop was taken Aug. 11 from an apartment in the 400 block of South Euclid Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked window. Estimated loss was $400.

Reckless Conduct: A 14-year-male from Oak Park voluntarily surrendered himself to police Aug. 11 and was charged with reckless conduct for throwing bottles off an apartment building in the 100 block of North Forest Place last month, police said.

Theft: A wallet containing cash, a driver’s license and credit cards was taken Aug. 11 from a locker at the West Cook YMCA, 225 S. Marion St. Entry to the locker room was gained through a closed, but unlocked, door. Estimated loss was $75.

Theft: A cell phone left unattended on a bench in, 610 S. Ridgeland Ave., was taken Aug. 11. Estimated loss was $400.

Outside Warrant: Ervin Spiller, 26, of Oak Park, was arrested Aug. 11 on an outstanding warrant out of Lake County for financial identify theft, police said.

Theft from Person: An iPhone was grabbed from hand of a 16-year-old who was walking in the 600 block of Washington Boulevard Aug. 11. The suspect then fled east on Washington from East Avenue. Estimated loss was $160.

Residential Burglary: A game console, music recorder, a camera, jewelry box, cash and a duffel bag were taken sometime between Aug. 9 and Aug. 11 from an apartment in the 200 block of North Austin Boulevard. Entry was gained by prying off the lock on the front door. Estimated loss was $740.

Theft: A wallet containing debit and identification cards was taken Aug. 10 from the purse of a customer of a business in the 700 block of Lake Street. Estimated loss was $170.

Residential Burglary: A laptop computer, a purse, $200 in coins and miscellaneous credit and debit cards were taken Aug. 10 from an apartment in the 200 block of North Austin Boulevard. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door and breaking the deadbolt lock. The apartment was ransacked during the incident. Estimated loss was $2,600.

Theft: A locked bicycle was taken from a rack in first block of Garfield on Aug. 8. Estimated loss was $200.

Battery Arrest: Dionisios Vithoulkas, 46, of Oak Lawn, was charged Aug. 9 with battery after his 2001 Dodge Ram pickup made contact with a resident who told him he could not park on the parkway, police said. The resident was uninjured, police said.

Theft: A Sony PlayStation 3 video game console, Nintendo game console, BMX bicycle, a fan, a suitcase and two pairs of sandals were taken sometime between Aug. 5 and Aug. 9 from the storage unit of an apartment building in the 400 block of South Scoville Avenue. Entry was gained by using a pry tool. Estimated loss was $990.

Theft: A cell phone was taken Aug. 9 from the hands of a victim walking in the 0-100 block of Ridgeland Avenue; the offender fled in an unknown direction. Estimated loss was $200.
