Mother Slaps Child, Then Hits Officer: Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, Feb. 19.

An Oak Park woman was charged with three separate counts of battery after she slapped her child repeatedly and then hit the officer who responded to the incident, police said.

Colleen A. Mulvihill, 45, of the 800 block of Highland in Oak Park, was charged with domestic battery/bodily harm, aggravated battery of a child and battery.

Det. Sgt. Michael Richardson said police received a call from the child's father at about 5:07 p.m. Feb. 19. According to the police report, Mulvihill slapper her daughter in the face a dozen times, pulled her hair and pushed her to the floor.

The daughter called her father, who lives in North Riverside, and he called police. When police responded to Mulvihill's home she hit an officer, Richardson said, and that's why she was also charged with battery.

Mulvihill was arrested and held pending bond hearings.
