Jamaican Lottery Scam, Neighborly Dispute Gets Messy: OMG PD

Jamaican Lottery Scam 

A woman in the 300 block of South Kensington Avenue on Nov. 22 reported she’d been receiving phone calls from a man who told her she’d won the Jamaican lottery, and that he’d send her a check if she sent him money to pay for the taxes. She told police the man threatened her when she said she was going to call the police. Police contacted the caller, who initially denied the calls, but then agreed to stop calling the woman, police said. 

Car, With Keys Inside, Stolen From Driveway

A woman reported her Honda Fit was stolen from her driveway in the 100 block of Bluff Avenue sometime during the night of Nov. 24. Police said the keys had been left in the unlocked car. The total estimated loss is $10,000, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS

Woman Spreads Powdery Substance in Neighbor Dispute 

Nancy L. Timyan, 51, of the 3900 block of Ellington Avenue, Western Springs, was charged with disorderly conduct and telephone harassment, police said, after an investigation confirmed her role in two separate offenses on her block last week. 

Deputy chief Brian Budds of the Western Springs Police Department said that at 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 19, Timyan allegedly "spread a powdery substance and other debris" on a neighbor’s front entry area and other debris near the neighbor's fence, causing the neighbor to become "alarmed and disturbed."

That incident occurred after Timyan allegedly harassed the same neighbor by phone on Nov. 18, police said. 

Timyan was charged after police located her in her vehicle in the 1000 block of Hillgrove Avenue at 3:35 p.m. Nov. 19. She was released on recognizance bond to appear in court.

OAK PARK 

Thief Wanted an Oak Park Souvenir

A man stole two blue hooded sweatshirts that read "Chicago" from a merchandise rack at the Oak Park Visitor's Center around 11:55 a.m. Nov. 23. The total estimated loss is $80, police said.
