So, who said Jake grabbed the wheel? Was it the guy who left Jake to die in a fiery wreck so he wouldn't get arrested ? The guy who "crawled 5 miles" for help ? I wish had close friends like Kevin Krohn. The difference between the 2 drinking buddies was ONE guy was driving, ONE wasn't. See the difference ? When you are the driver, YOU are responsible legally and morally. When you drink a lot , then speed down dark, hilly country roads, it's no longer an accident. It's negligence. If you kill your passenger in the process, it's now called aggravated DUI. I think the moral of the story is if you're out drinking and your both loaded, don't get in the car. Just because you are a passenger and won't legally get a DUI, you can still get dead.

Did someone hold a gun to Jake's head to get into that car? Did Kevin pick him up, put him in the car, and hold him hostage? It's so easy to point blame and see a victim. Nobody wins here. It's a sad story. Some people have some nerve blasting Kevin when they've never even met him. Newsflash: nobody deserves to die. And Kevin is not an intentional killer. The only word to describe this situation is: tragedy. For everyone.

Emma- I'm thinking logic isn't one of your strong points. Do YOU require someone to point a gun at you to get you to do what is legally and morally correct ? It's not just a sad story, it's CRIMINAL. Even if Kevin is 'swell' and he left his bud to burn to death 'accidentally', it's still not someone I'd bother to defend nor want to hang with.

Everyone has a good side whether you think so or not. This is a tragedy for all involved. May God watch over and comfort both families. And pray that others learn from this.

What a sad story, as I read the above comments I am infuriated. First of all the law failed Jake. Kevin should not have been behind the wheel on his I believe 3rd or 4th pending DUI and a wreckless driving ticket from like a week before(all public record if you know where and how deep to dig). Second of all, I was at the scene of the incident the following day after the investigation, no one crawled 5 miles, lies. And have any of you driven that road at 80mph plus? Its a hotspot for teen boys, you can actually get air coming over that hill if you going fast enough, Jake did not grab the wheel causing that accident. Kevin needs to stop the BS, tell the truth and ask for forgiveness. Oh and... Stop going to Joliet bars after your morning therapy too... Think this would have been what finally opened your eyes but wow your still at it. At first I defended Kevin saying he will have to stomach the guilt and thats enough punishment, now after seeing first hand what he is up too (you never know who your standing in front of) I hope he gets major jail time....
