Woman Robbed on Elmwood and More: Oak Park Police Blotter

Oak Park police reports, Nov. 13-18.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18

Domestic Battery Arrest

Anthony J. Brown, 28, of the 500 block of Frederick Avenue in Bellwood was arrested and charged with domestic battery in the 600 block of south Austin at about 12:24 p.m. Brown was issued a court date in November and held for bond hearings.

Robbery Reported

An Oak Park resident told police she was the victim of a robbery in the 1100 block of south Elmwood at about 4:47 p.m. The offender was described as male, black, about 20 years old, about 6-feet-tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue puffy jacket and dark pants. The offender grabbed the victim's arm and removed her purse containing $310 in cash and various credit cards from her shoulder. The estimated loss was $480.

SATURDAY, NOV. 17

Vehicle Stolen

An Enterprise rental car was reported stolen in the 0-100 block of Erie Court between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. The loss was estimated at $14,000.

Car Break-In

An Oak Park resident told police that someone entered their 2002 Nissan Altima between Nov. 4-17 and attempted to remove the car's stereo and start the car. Damage resulted to the ignition and dashboard for a reported loss of $450.

Purse Stolen While Victim Cleaned Church

An Oak Park resident told police that their purse was stolen while they were cleaning a church in the 0-100 block of Washington between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The purse was left unattended and contained the victim's phone, $10 in cash and a pair of glasses. The total loss was estimated at $690.

Retail Theft Arrest

Keshawn M. Bell, 21, of the 2400 block of west Lexington in Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft at Old Navy in the 400 block of north Harlem in Oak Park. Bell was given a December court date and released on bond.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16

Man Arrested for Burglarizing Vehicle

Finis L. Jackson, 34, of the 5800 block of west Erie in Chicago, was arrested at about 11:08 a.m. and charged with burglary after he was seen removing cell phones from a UPS truck in the 1100 block of west Lake Street.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15

Copper Stolen From AT&T in Oak Park

Police learned that between Nov. 14-15, someone stole eight to 10 3-foot-long pieces of copper piping from the fourth floor of the AT&T building in the 700 block of Lake Street. The estimated loss was $270.

Man Arrested for Battery

Amen L. Brown, 18, of the 600 block of south Maple, was taken into custody for a battery that occurred on Nov. 1 in the 200 block of north Scoville and held in lieu of bond at about 3:18 p.m.

Car Burglarized

An Oak Park resident reported that their locked car was burglarized between Nov. 14 and 15 in the 200 block of south Oak Park Avenue. The offender entered the car through the driver's side door and once inside removed an Apple iPod and $5 in cash for an estimated loss of $405.

Man Arrested for Trespassing

Justin M. Johnson, 23, of the 700 block of north Austin in Chicago, was arrested on a criminal trespass to property warrant at about 1:50 p.m. in the 700 block of north Austin. The warrant was listed as out of DuPage County, so Johnson was transferred to the DuPage County Sheriff's Department.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14

Catalytic Converter Stolen

An Oak Park resident reported to police that someone stole the catalytic converter from their Lexus between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of west Roosevelt Road. The loss was estimated at $950.

Apartment Burglarized

An apartment in the 800 block of west Erie was reported burglarized between 9:30 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. The apartment was entered using a pry tool to defeat the door lock. Stolen was a Sony television, jewelry box, 30 pairs of stud earrings and reusable shopping bags for a total estimated loss of $2080.

Teens Kick Car

An Oak Park resident told police that two 16-year-olds, surrounded their car in the 100 block of north Linden at about 3:20 p.m. and began kicking the front of their car. The teens then fled westbound on Lake Street.

Power Tools Stolen From Unlocked Truck

A Forest Park resident reported that someone entered an unattended work truck parked in the 300 block of north Euclid between 8:10 a.m. and 8:39 a.m. and stole several power tools for an estimated loss of $1,865.

TUESDAY, NOV. 13

 Retail Theft

Terry Brady, 18, of the 4200 block of west Potomac in Chicago, was arrested and charged with attempted retail theft and retail theft at Jewel in the 400 block of Madison Street at about 5:49 p.m. Brady was held in lieu of bond.

Battery Arrest

Kathy Hood, 55, of the 300 block of south Iowa Avenue in Addison, was arrested and charged with battery at about 5:13 p.m. in the 100 block of west Madison. Hood was issued a court date in December and released on bond.

Burglary Reported to Car

Someone damaged a side service door on a garage in the 700 block of south Lyman between Nov. 12-13, an Oak Park resident told police. Once inside, the victim's car window was shattered and their car was ransacked. Police provided no listing of what was stolen. The loss and damage was estimated at $365.
