Oak Park Crime Briefs: Boy Charged for Harassing Text, Armed Robbery and More
Sexting leads to charges, bummed smoke leads to stick-up.
Harassment
A 12-year-old Oak Park boy was charged Sept. 27 with sending harassing text messages to a pair of girls, one 11 years old and the other 12 years old, police said. The texts, police said, were sexual in nature and showed adult male genitalia. Parents of the girls called police, and the young man was brought into the police department by his parents and then turned over to them.
Aggravated Robbery
Approximately $300 in cash, an iPod Nano and cell phone were taken Sept. 27 from a female waiting for a CTA Blue Line train. The offender was last seen running south on Austin Boulevard.
Armed Robbery
Approximately $89 was stolen Sept. 26 from a man who was offering a cigarette to another man who had asked for one. The unidentified victim went to offer the man a smoke but instead found him pointing a silver revolver at him. After the victim raised his hands, the offender went through his pockets and swiped the cash. The incident took place in the 1500 block of North Austin Boulevard.
