Oak Park Jogger Attacked

Police looking for help with incident labeled a "criminal sexual abuse."

A woman out for an evening jog in Oak Park was grabbed from behind by a man who then exposed his genitals, police said.

The attack took place in the 600 block of North Ridgeland just before 8 p.m. Tuesday when the victim — described only as an adult female — was approached from behind.

The woman told police the offender "grabbed her in a bear hug and exposed himself," according to a police alert.

He is described as a white male in his mid-twenties, about six-feet two inches tall and 220 pounds. He has light brown, short, thick hair and was clean-shaven.

That rivals the description offered by a three juvenile girls who reported a man exposing himself to them in the 600 block of West Randolph Street on Sept. 1, but Cmmdr. LaDon Reynolds of the Oak Park Police Department said investigators "haven't officially made any connections" to that case.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to call the Oak Park Police Department at 708-386-3800or e-mailing police@oak-park.us. Police say tips also can be provided anonymously by calling 708-434-1636 or by e-mail via the link at www.oak-park.us/police.
