Oak Park Man Found With More Than 700 Child Porn Files on Computer

Joe V. Hymon, 44, of Oak Park was arrested after a search of his home found more than 700 image and video files of child porn on his computers.

A 44-year-old Oak Park man has been charged with aggravated child pornography, according to Oak Park police, after it was found that he was using a peer-to-peer file-sharing network to trade pornographic images and video of children.

Oak Park police today announced the arrest and charges against Joe V. Hymon, of the 700 block of north Austin Boulevard. Hymon was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 17 based on information gathered against him by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force to which an Oak Park police detective is assigned. He has since been released on bond.

Oak Park police said they became involved in the investigation against Hymon after the task force alerted police that an IP address at his address was downloading and uploading child porn.

The ICAC task force is made up of a multi-jurisdictional team that helps state and local law enforcement agencies investigate and prosecute those who use the Internet to solicit children and in child pornography cases.

Oak Park police searched Hymon's home on Wednesday and found two computers containing more than 700 pornographic images and videos of children. Police reported that Hymon was not home when they arrived at his residence to execute their search warrant, but arrived soon afterwards and was arrested.

Hymon Released, to Appear in Court

Hymon has been released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. at the Maybrook Courthouse, the Fourth Municipal District Courthouse, at 1500 Maybrook Dr. in Maywood.
