Oak Park Man Sentenced in Child Porn Case

Convicted of aggravated child pornography charge, Joe Hymon of Oak Park will be required to register as a sex offender for life after his release from jail.

An Oak Park man facing felony child pornography charges has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and 30 months of intensive sex offender probation after pleading guilty to the charges, according a news release from the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

Joe Hymon, 40, of the 700 block of North Austin Boulevard in Oak Park, pled guilty Wednesday to aggravated child pornography possession in front of Cook County Judge Paula Daleo in Maywood, according to the release.

Prosecutors said Chicago Police found child pornography that were being shared from a computer located at Hymon’s Oak Park home during an undercover online investigation.

During a warrant search of Hymon's home, Oak Park police found computers containing more than 700 pornographic images and videos of children, according to a previous Patch report.  

Forensic analysis revealed numerous images and videos of children under the age of 13 engaged in various sex acts, according to the release.

Hymon, who has a previous 1993 felony conviction for aggravated battery to a child, will be required to register as a sex offender for life upon his release from jail, according to the release.
