Oak Park Police Blotter: Catalytic Converters Swiped

Pot possessions, retail thefts and criminal damages also reported.

The following items are taken from  daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurs, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Marijuana Possession:
Antoine Lavender, 27, of 213 S. Lavergne Ave. in Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the 600 block of South Harlem Avenue in Forest Park on Saturday, Feb. 19, police said.

DUI Charge:
Danielle A. Smart, 21, of 1820 N. Merrimac Ave. in Chicago, was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding a peace officer and aggravated drunken driving after a Saturday, Feb. 19 traffic stop in the 500 block of North Ridgeland Avenue, police said.

Criminal Damage: 
The doors, trunk and roof were scratched and the rear window of a vehicle  parked in the 200 block of South Cuyler Avenue was shattered between the dates of Friday, Feb. 18 and Saturday, Feb. 19. Estimated lost $5,500.

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle:
Troy Taylor, 18, of 110 N. Parkside Ave. in Chicago, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle in the 600 block of South 21st Avenue in Maywood on Friday, Feb. 18, police said.

Criminal Damage: The entire driver's side of a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Lake Street was scratched on Friday, Feb. 18. Damage estimated at $5,000.

Theft:
A laptop valued at $298 was stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of North Austin Boulevard on Friday, Feb. 18.

Theft: The catalytic converter of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Madison Street was stolen on Friday, Feb. 18. Loss estimated at $1,000.

Retail Theft:
Two carbon monoxide detectors and several packs of batteries were stolen from , 345 Madison St., on Friday, Feb. 18. Loss estimated at $174.09.

Theft:
A pack of cigarettes and $70 cash were stolen from a victim's purse in the 1000 block of Lake Street on Friday, Feb. 18. Total loss estimated at $76.50.

Theft:
Efren Delgado, 35, of 5809 W. 16th St. in Cicero, was charged with theft on Thursday, Feb. 17, police said.

Theft: A wallet containing debit and credit cards, a driver's license and miscellaneous identification was stolen from , 103 N. Marion St., on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Loss estimated at $20.

Marijuana Possession:
Darius L. Mann, 18, of 429 Wesley Ave., was charged with marijuana possession in the 200 block of Scoville Avenue on Wednesday, Feb. 16, police said.

Domestic Battery:
Marshall C. Newman, 52, of 1116 Washington Blvd., was charged with domestic battery and aggravated assault after an incident at his residence on Wednesday, Feb. 16, police said.

Drug Possession: 
Katherine Holt Gassman, 26, of 314 Duane St. in Glen Ellyn, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault and obstruction of identification at Madison Street and Harlem Avenue on Wednesday, Feb. 16, police said.

Theft:
An iPhone and its case valued at $700 were stolen from the , 834 Lake St., after it was left unattended on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

Retail Theft: Denise Dean, 53, of 1118 N. Mason Ave. in Chicago, was charged with retail theft after she was caught stealing from , 259 Lake St., on Tuesday, Feb. 15, police said.

Criminal Damage:
The rear windshield of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Chicago Avenue was shattered during a burglary attempt between the dates of Monday, Feb. 14 and Tuesday, Feb. 15. Damage is estimated at $300.

Criminal Damage: Jim L. Palmer, 44, of 4461 S. Ellis Ave. in Chicago, was charged with criminal damage to property in the 800 block of South Oak Park Avenue on Tuesday, Feb. 15, police said.

Aggravated Domestic Battery Charge:
Jonathan G. Ford, 29, of 1028 Washington Blvd., was charged with aggravated domestic battery at his home on Monday, Feb. 14, police said.

Burglary:
A GPS navigation unit and car stereo valued at a combined $500 were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Clarence Avenue between the dates of Sunday, Feb. 13 and Monday, Feb. 14.

Theft:
The catalytic converter belonging to a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Jackson Boulevard was stolen between the dates of Feb. 11 and Monday, Feb. 14. Loss estimated at $2,300.

Theft:
The catalytic converter and other car parts were stolen from a vehicle parked in an Erie Court parking garage were stolen on Feb. 11. Estimated loss $1,244.66.
