Oak Park Police Blotter: Chair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Lawn mowers hijacked, loads of tools taken and more reported to police.

The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft From Auto: A spare tire and mounting brackets were stolen from the undercarriage of a 2004 Ford Explorer parked in the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. The incident took place between April 25 and May 3. Estimated loss was $500.

Garage Burglary: A snow blower, bicycle and silver ladder were stolen May 5 from the garage of a home in the 600 block of Wisconsin Avenue. Entry was gained by prying open the side service door. The loss was estimated at $1,470.

Auto Burglary: Power tools were stolen May 5 from a 1998 Ford van parked in the rear of a home in the 700 block of North Humphrey Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the front passenger window. Estimated loss was $910.

Criminal Damage: Two window panes in the rear of a residence in the 100 block of Washington Avenue were broken May 4. Estimated damage was $120.

Theft: An 18-karat gold pendant was stolen May 4 from a display counter at a business in the 6300 block of North Avenue. Estimated loss was $800.

Auto Burglary: A Garmin GPS unit was stolen May 4 from a 2004 Honda Accord parked in the 500 block of West Adams Street. Entry was gained by breaking the front passenger side window. Estimated loss was $250.

Theft: An unattended Blackberry Curve left next to a water fountain in the 0-100 block of West Lake Street was reported stolen on May 4. Estimated loss was $50.

Criminal Damage: The hood of a 2003 Honda parked in the 500 block of South Cuyler Avenue was reported defaced May 2 with a black marking pen. Damage estimate is unknown.

Burglary: A laptop computer was stolen May 3 from a business in the 1000 block of West Lake Street. Entry was gained through the front door, which may have had a faulty lock. Estimated loss was $2,700.

Vehicle Theft: A 1991 Buick Century parked in the 1200 block of North Austin Boulevard was reported stolen on May 3. Estimated loss was $8,000.

Battery: Channel Smith, 29, of Oak Park, was charged with battery May 3 after a a verbal altercation between neighbors in the 100 block of South Austin Boulevard, police said.

Theft: Internal hardware from an air-conditioning unit of a home in the 1000 block of South Humphrey Avenue was stolen May 2. Estimated loss was unknown.

Theft: The central air conditioning unit from the side of a home in the 1000 block of South Humphrey Avenue was stolen between April 10 and May 2, when it was reported to police. Estimated loss was $800.

Theft: A bicycle was stolen May 2 from the backyard of a home in the 700 block of North East Avenue. Estimated loss was $260.

Criminal Damage: A piece of concrete was used to break the rear driver’s side window of a car parked in the 1000 block of North Linden Avenue on May 2. Estimated damage was $200.

Burglary: A lawnmower, circular saw, tools and a ladder were stolen May 1 from the garage of a home in the 0-100 block of Lemoyne Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked side service door. The estimated loss was $500.

Theft: Two cell phones and $25 were stolen from two different student lockers on April 30 at , 200 N. Scoville. Estimated loss was $725.

Drug Arrest: Lamar Brown, 23, of Chicago, was charged with possession of rock cocaine April 30, police said. The arrest took place at .

Theft: Kevin Davis, 39 and Percy James Allen, 52, both of Chicago, were charged April 30 with theft for taking chairs from Puree’s Pizza and Pasta, 1023 Lake Street, police said. The men were arrested in the 800 block of Madison Street.

Domestic Battery: Jason Lynch, 29, of Bridgeview, was charged April 30 with aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of a domestic battery, police said. The arrest took place in the 300 block of North East Avenue.

Theft: An unattended backpack containing a wallet, miscellaneous identification cards and an Apple MacBook, were stolen April 29. The incident took place in the 100 block of Madison Street. The estimated loss was $1,610.

Criminal Damage: White matting was torn on the playground at Lindberg Park on April 30. Estimated damage was $1,500.

Auto Burglary: A cell phone was stolen April 29 from an unlocked 2001 Chevrolet Malibu parked in the 0-100 block of Madison Street. Estimated loss was $300.

Theft: A cell phone was stolen from the lap of a sleeping rider on the CTA Blue Line at the Austin stop on April 29. The estimated loss was $600.

Burglary: A power generator was stolen April 30 from the garage of a home in the 500 block of North Lombard Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked side service door. Estimated loss was $700.

Battery Arrest: Rakeem Scatton, 20, of Oak Park, was charged with battery April 30 after he was identified as the offender in a fight, police said. The arrest took place in the 700 block of South Euclid Avenue.

Auto Burglary: A lawn mower and a snow blower were stolen April 30 from the garage of a home in the 800 block of Linden Avenue. Entry to the garage was gained when the offender broke the front passenger window of the victim’s 2008 Toyota and removed the garage door opener. Estimated loss was $1,100.

Theft: A wallet containing various identification and credit cards was stolen April 28 from a purse that was left in a stroller while the victim placed the child in the car. Estimated loss was $20.

Criminal Trespass: Chris Schulz, 51, of Oak Park, was charged April 28 with criminal trespass at West Suburban Hospital, 3 Erie Court, police said.

Residential Burglary: A computer and monitor, speakers and $500 were stolen April 28 from an apartment in the 400 block of North Taylor. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear window.

Retail Theft: A variety of Oil of Olay products, valued at $608, were reported stolen April 28 from , 6412 Roosevelt Rd.
