Oak Park Police Blotter: Chicago Man Arrested for Two June Thefts

Oak Park police reports, June 26 – July 6.

THURSDAY, JULY 5

Theft

A road bicycle was stolen from the backyard of a home in the 00 block of Superior Street. Estimated loss was $200.

Battery

The hair, face and tee-shirt of a 11-year-old girl were sprayed with an unknown liquid while she was looking out the window of her home in the 800 block of North Austin Boulevard. The offender walked by and sprayed her from a clear plastic bottle he was carrying.

Theft

An unattended duffel bag containing a pair of gym shoes, state identification and social security cards and a birth certificate was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 900 block of South Boulevard. Estimated loss was $100.

Battery Arrest

Nicholas J. Bradley, 26, of Bellwood, turned himself into Oak Park police after a client filed a complaint that he inappropriately touched her while he was giving her a massage, police said. The incident took place at a business in the 1100 block of Lake Street.

JULY 4 – 5

Criminal Damage to Auto

An unknown object was used to scratch the rear bumper and trunk of a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro parked in the 200 block of South Maple Avenue. The passenger door side view mirror also was broken in the incident. Estimated damage was $300.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 4

Theft

A Blackberry was stolen from the laundry room of an apartment building in the 100 block of Harrison Street. Estimated loss was $500.

Outside Warrant Arrest

Anthony M. Gordon, 58, of Bellwood, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Bellwood for criminal trespass to land, police said. He was apprehended in the 200 block of South Harlem Avenue.

July 3 – July 4

Auto Theft

A 2000 Saturn SL was stolen from the 400 block of South Maple Avenue. A GPS unit was removed as well. Estimated loss was $600.

Driving on a Revoked License/Outside Warrant Arrest

Salvador Jacobo, 25, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a revoked license after a traffic stop in the 800 block of Randolph Street, police said. After a LEADS check he also was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Waukegan for failing to appear in Lake County Court for drunken driving, police said.

TUESDAY, JULY 3

Burglary to Auto

Three nail guns and two drills were stolen from a Chevy Express van parked in the 100 block of North Taylor Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear door. Estimated loss was $1,157.

Outstanding Warrant Arrest

Christopher Camillo, 47, of Oak Park, was arrested on an active warrant out of Chicago for violating an order of protection, police said. He was apprehended after a traffic stop in the 900 block of North Boulevard.

Outstanding Warrant Arrest

Martin J. Wallace, 52, of Lombard, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Cook County for criminal damage to property, police said. He was apprehended during a traffic stop in the 300 block of North Harlem Avenue.

Theft from Auto

A catalytic converter was stolen from underneath a Ford Aerostar parked in a lot at West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Ct. Estimated loss was $900.

Criminal Damage to Property Arrest

A Berwyn teen, 14, was charged with criminal damage to property after he kicked and dented the rear passenger side door of a 2008 Ford Escape, causing $1,000 damage to the auto, police said. The car was parked in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard. He was turned over to the custody of a guardian, police said.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Quantrell T. Strickland, 31, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped in the 6000 block of North Avenue for speeding in the curb lane along North Avenue, police said.

TUESDAY, JULY 3

Retail Theft

A thief walked into Walgreen’s, 811 Madison St.. loaded 40 boxes of allergy medication into a backpack and fled the store without paying for the items. Estimated loss was $999.60.

JULY 2 – JULY 3

Theft

Both license plates were stolen from a 2008 Nissan Sentra parked in the rear of an apartment building in the 900 block of North Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss was $25.

MONDAY, JULY 2

Theft Arrest

Oscar L. Clay, 47, of Chicago, was charged after he was identified through a photo spread and a videotape with two different thefts that took place late last month in Oak Park, police said. Clay is accused of the June 16 theft of a computer tablet from the counter at a beauty supply store in the 900 block of Madison Street and fleeing with the item concealed inside his front pants, as well as a June 19 iPhone theft from a car. 

Theft

Someone shut off the water supply at Wendy’s, 11 N. Harlem Ave. and stole a flush valve and a brass 10-inch pipe attached to the exterior of the building. Estimated loss was $500.

Theft

A locked 21-speed bicycle was stolen from a bike rack in the 1200 block of North Harlem Avenue. Estimated loss was $350.

Residential Burglary

A laptop was stolen from the basement apartment in the 500 block of South Cuyler Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked side entrance door. Estimated loss was $500.

Theft

A postal package containing a 40-inch television was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 700 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss was $367.

Driving on a Suspended License

Donald Rogers, 32, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license after he pulled over in the 700 block of South Lombard Avenue for not wearing a seatbelt, police said. A name check also revealed he had an outstanding warrant out of Oak Park also for driving on a suspended license, police said. Rogers was apprehended during the village’s safe driving campaign, police said.

Theft

A key ring was stolen from a table top in the McDonald’s. A remote entry unit to a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo was among the 15 keys that were on the ring. Estimated loss was $50.

Theft

Two leafblowers were stolen from the ground next to a landscaping trailer parked in the 500 block of Woodbine Avenue. The thieves then re-entered a 2000 Dodge Caravan parked nearby and fled southbound on Woodbine then westbound on Chicago Avenue. Estimated loss was $700.

JULY 1 – JULY 2

Burglary

A bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home in the 1100 block of South Kenilworth Avenue. Entry was gained through an open overhead garage door. Estimated loss was $200.

Burglary

A bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home in the 800 block of South Kenilworth Avenue. Entry was gained through a closed, but unlocked, side service door. A 2008 Dodge Charger parked inside also was ransacked. Estimated loss was $319.

Theft from Auto

A registration sticker was stolen from the rear plate of a 2007 Toyota Corolla parked in the 200 block of South Maple Avenue.

June 28 – June 29

Criminal Defacement of Property

“Free Tribe” was written in various sizes with a blue ink marker on two benches, a tot lot sign, a notice board on the west fence of the tennis court and a trash can by the northwest corner restrooms at Scoville Park, 800 W. Lake St. Estimated damage was unknown.

TUESDAY, JUNE 26

Theft

An iPad was stolen from an unlocked classroom cabinet at Holmes School, 508 N. Kenilworth Ave. Estimated loss was $800.
