Oak Park Police Blotter: Phony Credit Card Bust

The following information was supplied by the Oak Park Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft Arrest: Diane E. Wynn, 44, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft Jan. 17 for taking hygiene products and children’s toys from CVS Pharmacy, 345 Madison St. in mid-December, police said. An investigation revealed she had an outstanding warrant out of Cook County for retail theft.

Auto Theft: A 2008 Pontiac G6 was stolen Jan. 17 after someone stole a purse, containing car keys, credit and debit cards from inside of an office in a building in the 1000 block of Lake Street. Estimated loss was $21,100.

Theft from Auto: An overnight parking permit was stolen sometime between Jan. 17 and Jan. 18 from a 2007 Ford Explorer parked in the 400 block of South Cuyler Avenue.

Theft: A computer and monitor were stolen sometime between Jan. 17 and Jan. 18 from the common area of a building in the 1000 block of Pleasant Place. Estimated loss was $1,500.

Criminal Damage: The passenger side window was of a 2002 Honda Odyssey parked in the garage of a home in the 300 block of North Scoville Avenue was broken Jan. 18. Entry was gained through an unlocked side door. Estimated loss was $150.

Retail Theft: Alex K. Kirksey, 24, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft Jan. 18 after he was caught attempting to take Super Glue and eye cream, valued at $27, from CVS Pharmacy, 345 Madison St., police said. A further investigation revealed he also had an outstanding warrant out of Cook County for failing to appear in court on an assault charge, police said.

Burglary: A 19-inch bicycle was stolen sometime between Jan. 18 and Jan. 19 from the garage of a home in the 100 block of South Humphrey Avenue. Entry was gained by kicking in the locked side service door. Estimated loss was $1,300.

Retail Theft Arrest: Larry A. Luster, 38, of Harvey, was charged Jan. 19 with felony retail theft after he attempted to take batteries, valued at $167, from Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 Lake St., police said.

Outside Warrant Arrest: Anthony G. Tanuyan, 26, of Chicago, was arrested Jan. 19 on an outstanding warrant out of Boone County for driving on a suspended license, police said. He was apprehended after his car was pulled over for speeding in the 200 block of Lake Street.

Possession: Ike F. Jeffries, 41, of Chicago, was charged with possession of incomplete credit cards after a Jan. 18 traffic stop in the 1100 block of South Menard Avenue, police said. Investigators found 27 incomplete credit cards — with no numbers, names or expiration dates — which could be used to facilitate forgery or fraud, police said. He also was charged with driving on a suspended license and driving without proof of insurance.

Theft Arrest: A 15-year-old from Chicago was charged with two counts of theft Jan. 19 for asking to borrow, but not returning, a cell phone from a 17-year-old acquaintance and an iPod from a 16-year-old earlier this month, police said. The incidents, one which took place on Jan. 19 and the other on Jan. 5 took place in the 100 block of North Humphrey Avenue; both victims were from Oak Park, police said. The arrest took place in Chicago; the juvenile was turned over to the custody of a parent.
