Oak Park Police Blotter: Church Change Stolen

More bike thefts also reported.

The following items are taken from  daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary: Change was taken sometime between Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 from a vending machine at First Baptist Church, 820 Ontario St. Entry was gained by breaking a window located on a door to the office, reaching in and opening the door. Total estimated loss was $125.  

Criminal Damage: The side service door of a garage and a motion sensor light on a house in the 500 block of South Euclid Avenue were damaged sometime between Aug. 29 and Aug. 30. Total estimated loss and damage were $500.

Theft: A computer and an unlocked bicycle were stolen Aug. 29 from a home in the 500 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Access to the computer was gained through an unlocked door on the rear porch; the bicycle also was underneath the rear porch. Estimated loss was $300.

Domestic Battery: Anthony Edwards Jr., 36, of Oak Park surrendered himself to police Aug. 30 on a charge of domestic violence, police said.

Burglary to Auto: Four males attempted to gain entry to a 2009 Mazda station wagon Aug. 31; there was no loss. The car was parked in the 600 block of North Cuyler Avenue.

Theft from Auto: A catalytic converter was taken Aug. 30 from a 1999 Jeep Cherokee parked in the 400 block of North Lake Street. Estimated loss was $1,200.

Drug Possession: Brandon Morgan, 26, of Lisle, was charged Aug. 30 with unlawful possession of a controlled substance after police found him with 2.6 grams of heroin during a traffic stop in the 400 block of South Boulevard, police said.

Obstruction of Identification: A 17-year-old from Chicago was charged with obstructing identification Aug. 29 when he lied about his address, his name and age during questioning related to a burglar alarm that went off at a nearby shop, police said.

Burglary: The deadbolt lock was broken sometime between Aug. 27 and Aug. 29 on the rear door at , 3 Chicago Avenue, in an attempt to gain entry to the business. Nothing appeared to be taken; estimated damage was $200.

Residential Burglary: An Apple laptop and several bottles of liquor were taken sometime between Aug. 27 and Aug. 28 from a home in the 400 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. Access was gained with a key, which was hidden; a stained glass window and window frame were also broken. Total estimated loss was $6,000.

Theft: A box containing an iPhone delivered to a home in the 300 block of North Maple Avenue was stolen Aug. 26. Estimated loss was $680.

Auto Theft: A 2004 Nissan Frontier was stolen sometime between Aug. 28 and Aug. 29 from the garage of a home in the 500 block of South Humphrey Avenue. The overhead door was missing and the owner may have kept a spare key in the garage.

Theft: Keys were taken Aug. 29 from an unattended and running 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix parked in the 400 block of North Humphrey Avenue. Estimated loss was $10.

Theft: Twenty-five issues of the Sunday Chicago Tribune were taken Aug. 28 from the entryway to , 136 N. Oak Park Ave. Estimated loss was $50.

Burglary to Auto: A wallet, containing cash and identification cards, was stolen Aug. 26 from an unlocked 2005 Saab 93 parked in the 700 block of Lexington Street. Estimated loss was $17.

Theft: A bicycle locked to a rack in the 200 block of Flournoy Street was stolen Aug. 29 Estimated loss was $300.

Theft: An iPhone was taken Aug. 29 from the backpack of a student at , 201 N. Scoville Ave. Estimated loss was $350.

Theft: A digital camera was taken Aug. 29 from a backpack sitting on a bench at , 49 Lake St. Estimated loss was $80.

Burglary to Garage: A 26-inch girl’s bicycle was stolen Aug. 29 from the garage of a home in the 1200 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. Access was gained by breaking two window panes on the garage. Estimated loss was $300.
