Oak Park Police Reports, June 8 - June 13

JUNE 12-13

Criminal Damage to Auto

The front windshield of a Chevrolet Cavalier parked in the front of a home in the 300 block of South East Avenue was broken with a brick. Estimated damage was $1,000.

TUESDAY, JUNE 12

Unlawful Possession of Cannabis Arrest

Danielle C. Johnson, 18, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis when officers stopped her car in the 5900 block of West Division Street in Chicago. Johnson also had an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for battery.

Possession of a Controlled Substance Arrest

Christopher Young, 22, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and traffic violations after he was stopped in the 300 block of North Austin Boulevard, police said. Police said Young threw out of his pocket material that is suspected of being .3 grams of heroin.  

Outside Warrant Arrest

Tommy Douglas, 27, of Chicago, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Chicago for criminal trespass to a home, police said. He was apprehended as the result of a street stop in the 800 block of South Oak Park Avenue.

Theft Arrest

Tarik Page, 35, of Chicago, was charged with felony theft for stealing a bicycle from the 400 block of North Kenilworth Avenue, police said. He was apprehended in the 100 block of Madison Street.

Domestic Assault Arrest

Kevin Webb, 45, was charged with three counts of domestic assault after striking three victims in the 500 block of South Kenilworth Avenue, police said. He also has an outstanding warrant from the Illinois of Corrections for a parole violation.

JUNE 10-12

Criminal Damage to Auto

A white powdery substance, possibly sugar, was poured into the gasoline tank of a 2003 Saturn parked in the 200 block of Washington Boulevard. Damage is undetermined at this time.

JUNE 10-11

Burglary

Forty-five bags of snacks and two stands were stolen from the concession stand at Rehm Park. Entry was gained through an unlocked door. The stands were later recovered in the backyard of a home in the 1000 block of South Scoville Avenue. Estimated loss was $135

MONDAY, JUNE 11

Criminal Damage

The locking tumblers and T-tops were damaged on a Chevrolet parked in the 6100 block of West Roosevelt Road. Estimated loss was $650.

Theft

An unattended iPhone and case were stolen from an unattended gym bag at Rehm Park. Estimated loss was $550.

Theft

A cell phone was stolen from an open storage area in the Park District of Oak Park administrative offices. Estimated loss was $200.

SUNDAY, JUNE 10

Theft

Approximately $40 was stolen from a wallet inside an unattended gym bag at the West Cook YMCA, 255 South Marion St. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 9

Theft

A lawnmower was stolen from the front yard of a home in the 700 block of Carpenter Avenue. Estimated loss was $150.

Unlawful Possession of Cannabis

A 17-year-old Oak Park resident was charged with possession of cannabis after dropping a backpack that he admitted contained marijuana, police said. Police said the youth was running from officers in the 300 block of South Ridgeland Avenue when he dropped the bag.

JUNE 8-11

Burglary

Eight laptop computers were stolen from a business in the 700 block of Lake Street. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door lock with a pry tool. Estimated loss was $16,300.

JUNE 8-9

Criminal Damage to Property

Five windows on the garage of a home in the 200 block of Forest Avenue were broken with a brick that was left at the scene. Estimated damage was $170.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8

Armed Robbery

Approximately $12 was stolen when a man pointed an automatic handgun at a another man sitting on the front porch of his home in the 500 block of South Humphrey Avenue and demanded his money. The two perpetrators were last seen walking eastbound on Adams Street toward Austin Boulevard.

Outside Warrant Arrest

Kina Carter, 33, of Chicago, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license, police said. The arrest took place in the 100 block of Erie Court.

JUNE 7-9

Burglary

Fifteen bottles of Absolut Vodka were stolen from a storage locker in the common basement area of a building in the 100 block of North Oak Park Avenue. A key may have been used to enter the locker. Estimated loss was $390.

Theft

A Fed-Ex package containing three tee-shirts was stolen from in front of a home in the 500 block of North Euclid Avenue. Estimated loss was $68.

JUNE 7-8

Theft

An untold amount of cash was stolen from a soda machine in a business in the 6800 block of North Avenue.  

Burglary

Approximately $386 was stolen from a safe kept in an office in the 800 block of West Harrison Street.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6

Theft

An iPhone was stolen from the hands of a juvenile sitting on a bench next to the basketball court at Longfellow Park. The thief got into a Mercedes-Benz driven by another man and fled the scene. Estimated loss was $200.
