Oak Park Police Blotter: Details of Recent Burglaries

Woman attacks roommate, one man pepper-sprays another.

The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Battery Arrest: Julius Hooks, 56, of Chicago, was charged Oct. 20 with battery after he pepper-sprayed the eyes of a man following an argument, police said. He was apprehended in the 100 block of Madison Street.

Burglary: A snow-blower, golf clubs and a lawn mower were stolen from the locked garage of a home in the 1200 block of Columbian Avenue sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. Entry was gained by forcing open the side service door. Estimated loss was $1,400.

Criminal Damage: Door frames to two garages of homes in the 1100 block of Columbian Avenue were damaged sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 when pry tools were used to try to get inside the side service doors. Estimated damage to each was $100.

Criminal Damage: The side service door of the garage of a home in the 1100 block of Fair Oaks Avenue was damaged sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 when a pry tool was used to get inside. Estimated damage was $50.

Burglary: Approximately $10 in change was stolen sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 from an unlocked 2004 Volkswagen Jetta parked in the garage of a home in the 700 block of North Austin Boulevard. Entry was gained through the open overhead door. The car also was ransacked during the incident.

Burglary to Auto: A camera, iPod and golf clubs were stolen sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 from a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country parked in the rear of a home in the 1000 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the rear passenger door window, reaching in and unlocking the door. Estimated loss was $2,800.

Criminal Damage: The padlock on the garage side service door of a home in the 1000 block of North East Avenue was damaged sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. Estimated damage was $20.

Criminal Damage: The window was broken on the garage of a home in the 1000 block of North East Avenue sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. Estimated damage was $50.

Burglary: A bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home in the 1000 block of North East Avenue sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. Entry was gained by breaking the lock on the side service door. Estimated loss was $1,000.

Domestic Battery: Delvin B. Molden, 47, of Oak Park, turned himself into police Oct. 20 on a signed complaint for domestic battery, police said.

Burglary: A 2009 Mazda CX-9 parked in the garage of a home in the 1100 block of Fair Oaks Avenue was ransacked sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 but nothing was taken. Entry was gained by using a pry tool on the side service door, damaging the door and the frame. Estimated damage was $25.

Burglary to Auto: An iPod and charger cord were stolen sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 from a 2009 Honda Civic parked in the rear of a home in the 300 block of South Taylor Avenue. Estimated loss was $170.

Criminal Damage: The door knob on the side service door of the garage of a home in the 1100 block of North Fair Oaks Boulevard was damaged with a pry tool sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. There was no damage estimate.

Theft from Person: A Kindle was grabbed out of the hands of a passenger on a westbound CTA Blue Line train Oct. 20 as the train pulled into the Oak Park Avenue stop. The offender then got off the train and ran east on the platform towards East Avenue. Estimated loss was $170.

Domestic Battery: Victoria Felker, 52, of Oak Park, was charged Oct. 20 with domestic battery after an argument, police said. She was arrested in the 500 block of Lyman Avenue.

Burglary: Lawn equipment, inline skates, a bicycle and a bookshelf unit still in the box were stolen Oct. 19 from the garage of a home in the 1100 block of Lyman Avenue. A neighbor confronted the offender, who was last seen running south n the alley. Estimated loss was $810.

Theft: A ladder was stolen sometime between Oct. 18 and Oct. 19 from the rear yard of a home in the 500 block of Clarence Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the lock on the gate. Estimated loss was $250.

Residential Burglary: Two televisions, a Nintendo Wii, a PlayStation set, a laptop and a watch were stolen Oct. 19 from an apartment in the 300 block of South Boulevard. Entry was gained by kicking the rear door open, damaging the frame. Estimated loss was $1,950.

Criminal Damage: A glass window of the interior security door to an apartment building in the 1000 block of Randolph Street was broken Oct. 19. Estimated loss was $200.

Auto Theft: A 1998 Chrysler Town & County minivan parked in front of the garage of a home in the 600 block of South Scoville Avenue was stolen Oct. 19. Estimated loss was $5,000.

Warrant Arrest: Mark Weber, 48, of Oak Park, was arrested Oct. 19 on an active warrant out of DuPage County for skipping bail on charges of driving on a suspended license, police said. He was apprehended in the 1000 block of Lake Street.
