Oak Park Police Blotter: Firewood Pilfered from Under a Porch

Theft of Auto: A 1999 Honda Civic was stolen sometime between March 27 and March 28 from the 400 block of South Lombard Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,500.
Burglary to Auto: A GPS unit was stolen sometime between March 27 and March 28 from a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe parked in a lot in the 400 block of Madison Street. Entry was gained by breaking the driver’s door window. Estimated loss was $350.
Burglary to Auto: Miscellaneous clothing and documents were taken sometime between March 27 and March 28 from a 2001 Honda Civic parked in the 200 block of Washington Boulevard. Entry was gained by breaking the rear passenger window. Estimated loss was $225.

Retail Theft Arrest: Timeka Taylor, 20, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft March 28 after she attempted to take a loofah, a car charger and an odorizer, from Walgreens, 6412 W. Roosevelt Road, police said.
Theft from Auto: A spare tire and wheel were stolen sometime between March 27 and March 28 from underneath a 2010 Toyota Tacoma parked in the 100 block of West Flournoy Avenue. Estimated loss was $500.

Theft: Keys and a wallet containing various ID and credit cards were stolen March 28 from a closed and secured locker at Formula Fitness Center, 1114 Lake St. Estimated loss was $158.
Residential Burglary: A wallet containing cash, credit cards and a driver’s license was stolen sometime between March 27 and March 28 from a purse hanging on the back of a kitchen chair in a home in the 1100 block of Lyman Avenue. Entry was gained through a closed, but unlocked, rear door. Estimated loss was $120.
Theft: Two rings were stolen sometime between March 28 and March 29 from a jewelry drawer in the bedroom of an apartment 400 block of North Austin Boulevard. Entry was unknown. Estimated loss was $1,300.
Retail Theft Arrest: A 17-year-old male from Chicago was charged March 29 with retail theft after attempting to take hair clippers from Oak Park Beauty Supply, 8 Lake St., police said. He was turned over to a parent.
Theft: As many as 50 pieces of firewood were swiped from under the front porch of a home in the 200 block of South Scoville Avenue March 29. A witness told police that four juveniles were seen taking the items and fleeing on to southbound East Boulevard in a car. Estimated loss was $100.
Theft: A pair of gym shoes was stolen March 29 from the locker of an employee at West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Ct. Estimated loss was $100.
