Oak Park Police Blotter: Gasoline Stolen

CDs nearly swiped, bike thefts and more reported.

The following items are taken from the daily summary reports from July 7 to July 10. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Felony Retail Theft: Michelle D. Grace, 44, of Chicago, was charged July 10 with felony retail theft after attempting to take $200 worth of clothing from , 417 N. Harlem Ave., police said.

Theft: A bicycle secured to a rack in the 500 block of Garfield Street was stolen July 10. Estimated loss was $300.

Theft Arrest: Darel M. Gaiter, 20, of Oak Park, was charged July 10 with a that took place in the 300 block of North Marion Street on June 14, police said.

Burglary to Garage: An aluminum tool chest, a tool case, leaf blower and a gas can were taken sometime between July 9 and July 10 from the garage of a home in the 300 block of South Harvey Avenue. Entry was gained by prying open the lock on the door.

Theft: A locked 31-speed bicycle secured to a rack in the 0-100 block of Ridgeland Avenue was taken sometime between July 9 and July 10.  Estimated loss was $315.

Theft: A locked hybrid bicycle was taken July 9 from a rack at the , 255 S. Marion St. Estimated loss was $2,000.

Felony Retail Theft: Tehan Jones, 38, of Chicago, was charged July 9 with felony retail theft after attempting to take $100 worth of CDs, from , 1144 Lake St., police said.

Retail Theft: Steven Dorsey, 45, of Chicago, was charged July 8 with attempting to take $20 worth of groceries from , 6226 W. Roosevelt Rd.

Theft: An unlocked mountain bicycle was stolen July 8 from the rear yard of a home in the 600 block of Belleforte Avenue. Estimated loss was $130.

Unlawful Possession: John C. Bates, 48, of Chicago, was charged July 8 with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. The arrest took place in the 1200 block of North Humphrey Avenue, police added.

Theft: An unlocked bicycle was stolen July 8 from the 400 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss was $30. 

Unlawful Possession: Joel D. Williams, 45, of Elmwood Park, was charged July 8 with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in the 1200 block of North Humphrey Avenue, police said. 

Theft: Approximately $29.37 of gasoline was stolen July 8 when the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer filled up his tank at , 333 Lake St., then drove off without paying.

Criminal Damage: A 7-foot-long wooden railing in the rear of the stage at , 100 block of Forest Avenue was broken July 8. Estimated damage was $102.

Criminal Damage: A window was broken in the rear of a home in the 11000 block of South Grove Avenue sometime between July 7 and July 8. Estimated damage was $600.
