Oak Park Police Blotter: Man Asks for Time, Swipes Phone

Oak Park police reports, June 5-8.

THURSDAY, JUNE 7

Burglary to Auto

A Track phone and several CDs were stolen from an unlocked 2002 Buick parked in the 200 block of Lake Street. Estimated loss was $80.

Retail Theft

Two hair weaves were stolen by two women who concealed them in a bag and fled a business in the 00 block of Lake Street without paying for them. Estimated loss was $94.98.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6

Cannabis Arrest

Angelo A. Alesia, 19, of Oak Park, was charged with unlawful delivery of cannabis, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in the 700 block of South Taylor Avenue, police said.

Theft

An unattended bag containing two footballs, house keys and a cell phone was stolen from outside a home in the 1000 block of South Lombard Avenue. Two youths were seen fleeing the scene on bicycles. Estimated loss was $200.

JUNE 5-JUNE 6

Theft

Two mountain bikes were stolen from the back yard of a home in the 900 block of North Harvey Avenue. Estimated loss was $300.

Burglary

A bicycle was stolen from the unlocked screened in sunroom attached to the garage of a home in the 500 block of North Harvey Avenue. Estimated loss was $100.

TUESDAY, JUNE 5

Battery Arrest

Shaquita D. Jones, 27, of Forest Park, was charged with battery after she threw food at a woman after a dispute at the cash register of a business in the 1100 block of Lake Street, police said. 

Theft

A stranger asked for the time and grabbed the cellphone out of the hand of a man who was helping him in the 300 block of South Euclid Avenue. The thief and his accomplice got into a sedan and drove north on Euclid.

Residential Burglaries

  • A jewelry box containing miscellaneous items was stolen from an apartment in the 900 block of Pleasant Street. Entry was gained by prying off the lock on the unit's door. Estimated loss was $2,250.
  • Two laptops, two watches, a necklace and a diamond bracelet were stolen from a home in the 900 block of Washington Boulevard. Estimated loss was $2,800.
  • A laptop was stolen from a home in the 300 block of North Cuyler Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,800.

Theft

A locked bicycle was stolen from the rack in the 1000 block of North Boulevard. Estimated loss was $250.

JUNE 4-5

Theft

A locked bicycle was stolen from the rack in the 1000 block of North Boulevard. Estimated loss was $300.

MONDAY, JUNE 4

Burglary

Fifteen keys belonging to cars were stolen from a desk drawer in an auto sales lot in the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road. Entry was gained by breaking the front door window with a fire extinguisher and climbing through. Several drawers were ransacked. Estimated loss was $530.

Theft

A bicycle was stolen from the common area of an apartment building in the 1000 block of Ontario Street. Estimated loss was $250.
