Oak Park Police Blotter: Gun Stolen from Bedroom Closet

The following information was supplied by the Oak Park Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Auto Theft: A 1996 Honda Civic was stolen Nov. 3 from the rear parking lot of a building in the 700 block of Lake Street. Estimated loss was $4,000.

Theft: A UPS package containing Pampered Chef cookware was stolen sometime between Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 from the lobby of a building in the 400 block of Home Avenue. Estimated loss was $200.

Burglary to Auto: Approximately $10 in change was stolen Nov. 4 from an unlocked 1997 Mercury Cougar owned by a woman who initially saw the offender sleeping inside her automobile, which was parked in the 1000 block of Lyman Avenue. The offender then woke and ran away.

Attempted Residential Burglary: The rear basement door of a home in the 1100 block of North Austin Boulevard was forced open Nov. 4 in an attempt to gain entry to the residence. The alarm went off, and the homeowner found nothing missing. Estimated damage was $100.

Theft: A stainless steel revolver was stolen sometime between Sept. 11 and Oct. 30 from a case in the bedroom closet of a residence in the 1300 block of North Harlem Avenue. The victim told police there was no serial number for the gun. Estimated loss was $350.

Retail Theft: Deodorant, soap and body wash were stolen Nov. 5 from , 259 Lake St., after a man concealed the items in a bag and walked out of the store. A security guard attempted to stop the man who dropped the bag and fled south on Harvey. The items were valued at $124.78.

Criminal Damage: A BB pellet broke the rear window of a 1992 Buick parked in the 1200 block of North Austin Boulevard on Nov. 5. Estimated damage was $300.

Burglary to Garage: Approximately 75 cents was stolen sometime between Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 from a 2010 Ford Escape parked in the garage of a home in the 1000 block of South Cuyler Avenue. Entry to the garage was gained by prying open the side door. Estimated loss and damage were $350.75.

Burglary to Garage: The backdoor of a garage in the 900 block of Gunderson Avenue was broken Nov. 6 and the overhead door latch was used to open the door completely, but nothing was taken from the shed. Estimated damage was $500.

Burglary to Garage: A car stereo was stolen sometime between Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 from a 2002 Saturn SL2 parked in a garage in the 1000 block of South Cuyler Avenue. The window of a 1997 Mercury Marquis also parked in the garage was broken, but there was no indication that anything was taken. A pry-type tool was used to gain entry to the garage.

Residential Burglary: A computer, two flat-screen television sets, two video game systems, a diamond ring and 24-inch chrome vehicle rims were stolen sometime between Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 from a home in the 0-100 block of Iowa Avenue. Estimated loss was $13,050.
