JULY 27

Criminal Damage

A BB or pellet was used to shatter the window of a building in the 400 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, causing about $500 in damage.

Theft

A wallet containing $100 cash, debt cards and a driver’s license was stolen from someone in the 100 block of South Marion Street

Criminal Damage

The windshield of a grey Nissan Altima parked in the 1000 block of North Boulevard was smashed by unknown means.

Garage Burglary

A blue 2000 Ford Expedition was stolen from an open garage in the 1100 block of Austin Blvd. According to a police report, “drag marks from the tires were observed at the scene, possibly indicating the vehicle may have been removed by a tow truck.”

JULY 30

Garage Burglary Attempt

A would-be thief was thwarted when the homeowner in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue spotted a stranger inside the home’s garage. The man was holding a grocery bag containing a power tool, which he quickly dropped and sped away riding a white mountain bike.

Retail Theft

Marcus Devon McGee, 32, of the 100 block of Parkside Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft after he was caught stealing from a business in the 200 block of Lake Street, police said.

Dana L. O’Brien, 33, of Kenosha, Wisc., was arrested charged with retail theft after he was caught stealing from a business in the 200 block of Lake Street, police said.

Bike Theft

A bicycle valued at $750 and locked to a bike rack in the 1100 block of Ontario Street was stole.

Armed Robbery

An Oak Park woman’s cell phone was stolen during an armed robbery that took place aboard a CTA Blue Line train around 9: 15 p.m. According a police report, the bandit was as a black male, about 17-18 years old with a muscular build, about 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds with short black hair. He wore an earring in his left ear.

Residential Burglary

An Apple laptop computer, iPad, iPhone and an Xbox video game console and various games were stolen from an unlocked residence in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue. Estimated loss was $3,550.

Criminal Defacement to Property Arrests

Two juveniles were arrested for using spray paint to vandalize trees, playground equipment and sidewalks in the 500 block of Garfield Street, police said.

Heroin Possession

Michael D. Walton, 22, of Palos Heights, charged with possession of a controlled substance on the 100 block of Harrison Street, police said. Oak Leaves reports Walton was spotted buying drugs, then entered then entered the restroom of a nearby business and was later found with 6 grams of heroin, a syringe and a spoon.

Burglaries to Motor Vehicle

Cash was stolen from an orange Chevy Impala parked in the 100 block of Iowa Street during a smash-and-grab burglary.

Cash, tools and CDs valued at a combine $120 were stolen during a burglary to an unlocked black Chevy Malibu parked in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue.

About $5 in coins were stolen from a 2001 Lexus RX300 parked in the 500 block of North Humphrey Avenue.

JULY 31

Bike Thefts

Two cables securing a girl’s red bicycle to a rack in the 1000 block of South Lombard Avenue were cut and the bike was stolen.

A green and white Schwinn bicycle locked to a rack in the 500 block of Garfield Street was stolen.

An unattended boy’s bicycle valued at $80 was stolen from the 300 block of South Kenilworth Avenue.

Flag Theft

A flag and flagpole were stolen from outside a home in the 900 block of North Taylor Avenue. Estimated loss was $50.

AUG. 1

Retail Theft

Three packs of Newport cigarettes were stolen from a business in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue by a man described by police as a black male with a bald head, about 30 years old, 5-foot-8 and 110 pounds.

Criminal Damage

A glass door outside a business in the 400 block of North Austin Blvd. was shattered, causing about $500 in damage.

Residential Burglaries

A flat-screen TV, video game console, iPod docking station, two laptop computers, a smartphone, jewelry, cash and two bottles of liquor were stolen from a home in the 1220 block of North East Avenue. Estimated loss was $14,010.00.

A pry tool was used to break into a residence in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue, where a video game console and a roll of quarters were stolen for an estimated loss of $303.99

Battery

A man riding a bike in the 700 block of North Harlem Avenue grabbed the buttock of female pedestrian.

Criminal Trespass

Jamal Allen, 34, of Hillside, was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct after an incident in the 1100 block of Lake Street, police said.

Garage Burglary

A wood chipper valued at $400 was stolen from a garage in the 800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue.

Robbery Arrest

Steve Bradley, 18, of the 400 block of North Leclaire Avenue in Chicago, was charged with robbery after striking a woman in the face in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard and stealing her cell phone, police said.

AUG. 3

Criminal Damage

A pry tool was used in a break-in attempt at the Citgo gas station at Ridgeland Avenue and Lake Street, causing about $500 in damage

Garage Burglary

Two bicycles and power tools valued at a combined $460 were stolen from a garage in the 700 block of South Lombard Avenue.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle Arrest

Calvin Schumate, 53, of the 700 block of North Latrobe Avenue in Chicago, was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle after he was found with items stolen from a car parked in the 300 block of North Elmwood Avenue, police said.

Theft

A UPS package containing playing cards was stolen from outside a home in the 900 block of Home Avenue.

Retail Theft Arrest

An Oak Park juvenile was charged with retail theft after trying to steal a bottle of vodka from Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 Lake St., police said.

Residential Burglaries

A pry tool was used to break into a residence in the 0-100 block of Chicago Avenue, where an iPod, laptop, mp3 docking station and various watches. Estimated loss was $6,350.00.

A laptop, iPhone, iPod, headphones, camera lenses and a briefcase were stolen from a home in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss was $3,500.000.

Theft

A men’s bicycle locked to a rack in the 1100 block of North Boulevard was stolen. Estimated loss was $400.

AUG. 4

Burglaries to a Motor Vehicles

A power tool valued at $625 was stolen from a white Ford van parked in the 1100 block of Home Avenue by two people who sped away in a black older model Lexus.

An iPhone and charger were stolen from an unlocked SUV parked in the 600 block of Carpenter Avenue. Estimated loss was $550.00.

DUI Arrest

Levell Atkins, 32, of the 400 block of North Central Park Avenue in Chicago, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop in the 800 block of North Austin Boulevard, police said. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Residential Burglaries

An iPad and case valued at a combined $620 was stolen during a burglary to a home in the 1100 block of North Elmwood Avenue.

An Xbox video game console valued at $300 was stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of Harrison Street.

Motor Vehicle Theft

A burgundy 1996 Nissan Altima was stolen from the 400 block of South Austin Blvd.

Criminal Damage

A BB or pellet was used to break the driver’s side window of a silver Toyota parked in the 1000 block of South Maple Avenue, causing about $200 in damage.

AUG. 5

Theft

An iPhone was stolen from an unlocked locker at Fitness Formula Club, 1114 Lake St.

Criminal Damage

Two tires were punctured on a Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the 500 block of Madison Street, causing about $300 in damage.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle Arrest

Antone Winters, 21, of the 1700 block of North Moody Avenue in Chicago, was charged with burglary to motor vehicle. Winters was arrested in the 100 block of North Menard Avenue, police said.

Theft

About $25 in cash was stolen from a locker at the West Cook YMCA, 255 S. Marion St.
