Oak Park Police Blotter: Incoming! Gasoline Cap

Smart car tipped, bike thefts, burglaries to autos, cars and more, June 30 - July 5.

The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft: An unsecured/unattended bicycle was taken July 4 from a rack at 600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue. Estimated loss was $400.

Criminal Damage: A lit firework blew off the gas cap on a 1998 Subaru Impreza, turning the item into a projectile that broke two 24x24 windows in a nearby home. The car was parked in the 1000 block of Gunderson Avenue. Estimated loss was $2,250.

Theft Arrest: A 15-year-old Chicago boy was charged July 4 with taking a bicycle parked at , 230 N. Cuyler Ave., earlier in the day, police said. The arrest took place in the 0-100 block of Ontario Street. He was turned over to a legal guardian.

Traffic Arrest: Llewelyn Boyles, 47, of Chicago, was charged July 1 with aggravated driving on a revoked license after he was stopped in the 700 block of North Austin Boulevard for having a broken headlight, police said.

Auto Theft: A 1992 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen sometime between June 30 and July 1 from the front driveway of a home in the 1000 block of North Lombard Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,000.

Warrant Arrest: Shawn A. Lee, 41, of Chicago, was arrested July 1 on an Oak Park warrant for driving on a suspended license. Lee was stopped in the 6300 block of Roosevelt Road for having an obstructed front windshield.

Warrant Arrest: Robert T. Quinn, 36, of Oak Lawn, was arrested July 1 on a felony warrant out of Kane County for failing to pay child support, police said. Quinn was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over on a traffic stop.

Burglary to Auto: A power drill and drill bits were taken sometime between June 30 and July 1 from a 1997 Chevrolet Astro Van parked in the rear of a home in 500 block of North Harvey Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the driver’s door window. Estimated loss was $580.

Burglary to Garage: Cable routers, circular saw, cable air compressor, table saw, sander and tool chest were taken sometime between June 30 and July 1 from the garage of a home in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue. Entry was gained through a closed, but unlocked, side service door. Estimated loss was $3,800.

Burglary to Auto: Fourteen CDs were taken from a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina parked in the rear of a home in the 1000 block of Wesley Avenue. Entry was gained through an open passenger side window. Estimated loss was $50.

Burglary to Auto: Change amounting to $25 was taken sometime between June 30 and July 1 from the center console of an unlocked 1995 Ford Escort parked in the 500 block of Harrison Street. The glove box also was ransacked.

Theft: A 96-gallon garbage toter was taken sometime between June 30 and July 1 from a home in the 700 block of South East Avenue. Estimated loss was $75.

Harassment by Electronic Communication: Brian W. Green, 27, of Chicago, was charged with making threatening phone calls to employees at Deals, 6405 W. North Ave., where he had been recently let go, police said. The calls were made on June 14 and June 17, police added.

Residential Burglary: A digital camera, iPod and miscellaneous jewelry were taken July 1 from a home in the 700 block of Washington Boulevard. Entry was gained through an unlocked window. Estimated loss was $614.

Violation Order Protection: Antonio F. Sims, 28, of Oak Park, was charged July 2 with violating an order of protection, police said. The arrest took place in the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue.

Criminal Damage: A sharp object scratched the paint on a 2011 Honda Odyssey parked in the 1000 block of North Euclid Avenue sometime between July 1 and July 2. Estimated damage was $100.

Auto Theft: A 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Coupe parked in the 900 block of Wisconsin Avenue was stolen July 2. Estimated loss was $6,000.

Criminal Damage: A key scratched the paint on a 2011 Subaru Outback parked in the 300 block of South East Avenue sometime between July 1 and July 2. Estimated damage was $500.

Theft: A locked bicycle was taken sometime between July 1 and July 2 from the 700 block of Garfield Street. Estimated loss was $1,400.

Theft: A Waste Management garbage container was taken sometime between June 30 and July 1 from the 700 block of East Avenue. Estimated loss was $75.

Disorderly Conduct: A Smart Car parked in the 600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue was tipped on its side sometime between July 2 and July 3. There was no damage done to the automobile.

Theft: A bicycle was taken from the open garage of a home in the 400 block of South Humphrey Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,070.

Theft: A bicycle was taken sometime between July 1 and July 2 from the rear yard of a home in the 400 block of Wisconsin Avenue. Estimated loss was $100.

Burglary to Auto: Two meters were taken July 3 from a 2006 Ford van parked in the 0-100 block of Harlem Avenue. Entry was gained by pulling the passenger side door lock. Estimated loss was $7,000.

Domestic Battery: Isiah Branch, 30, of Berwyn, was charged July 3 with domestic battery, police said. The arrest took place in the Oak Park Police Dept., 123 Madison St.

Obstructing Identification: Biaggia Davis, 26, of Chicago, was charged July 3 with repeatedly giving a false name to police, police said. Police said she had been questioned about a criminal damage incident in the 0-100 block of Erie Street. After she gave her correct name, police found there was an outstanding warrant out of Will County for forgery.
