Oak Park Police Blotter: Robbery Attempt, Catalytic Converter Thefts and More

The following information was supplied by the Oak Park Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Theft: A wallet containing credit and miscellaneous ID cards was stolen Oct. 31 from an unattended purse on the front porch of a home in the 600 block of South Wesley Avenue. Estimated loss was $10.

Theft Arrest: A 16-year-old Oak Parker was charged Nov. 1 with theft after taking a cell phone from a book bag left unattended in the cafeteria at , 201 N. Scoville Ave., police said. The incident took place Oct. 26.

Theft from Auto: A catalytic converter was cut sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 from underneath a 2003 Honda Element parked in the 200 block of South Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss was $1,200.

Theft from Auto: A catalytic converter was cut sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 from underneath a 2008 Honda Element parked in the 500 block of Harrison Street. Estimated loss was $978.78.

Theft: An unattended and unlocked BMX bicycle was stolen sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 from the backyard of a home in the 1200 block of North Forest Avenue. Estimated loss was $350.

Battery: A 59-year-old male was struck in the chest with an egg while he was in the 100 block of North Oak Park Avenue.

Theft: An iPhone was taken Oct. 31 from the desk of a 16-year-old student at . Estimated loss was $250.

Attempted Robbery: Two juveniles from Oak Park were unhurt when two young men punched and kicked them all over the bodies in an attempt to take their cell phones. The incident took place at close to 8 p.m., Oct. 31 in the 200 block of North Ridgeland Avenue.
