Oak Park Police Blotter: Ring Taken From Trader Joe's Employee

The following information was supplied by the Oak Park Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Outside Warrant: Pernell D. Thomas, 28, of Chicago, was arrested Nov. 18 on an outstanding warrant out of Chicago for theft, police said.

Theft: Two 8-by-16 sheets of metal were taken sometime between Sept. 13 and Sept. 29 from a fenced-in yard of a business in the 7000 block of Roosevelt Road. Estimated loss was $4,000.

Burglary to Auto: An iPad was stolen sometime between Nov. 2 and Nov. 3 from a 2005 Toyota Prius parked in the 500 block of Madison St. Entry to the car was unknown. Estimated loss was $699.

Theft Arrest: A 17-year-old from Oak Park was charged with theft Nov. 18 for taking an iPod from the desk of a teacher during class at , 201 N. Scoville Ave., police said. The juvenile was turned over to his guardian.

Theft: A stove and refrigerator were taken sometime between Oct. 29 and Nov. 15 from a home in the 0-100 block of Garfield Avenue. The front door locks, the walls and radiator were damaged during the incident. Estimated loss and damage were $800.

Theft: A cell phone was taken Nov. 15 from an unsecured locker in the boy’s locker room at . Estimated loss was $80.

Felony Retail Theft: Javier Flores, 36, of Oak Park, was charged Nov. 18 with felony retail theft after taking clothing valued at $70 from , 417 N. Harlem Ave., police said.

Theft: An unattended cell phone was taken Nov 12 from a lounge at the West Cook YMCA, 255 S. Marion St. Estimated loss was $500.

Garage Burglary: A drill and two chargers were stolen Nov. 18 from the garage of a home in the 700 block of South East Avenue. Entry was gained by prying open the side service door. Damage and estimated loss were estimated at $210.

Warrant Arrest: Robert McLaughlin, 42, of Oak Park, was arrested Nov. 18 on an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for drunken driving, police said. He was apprehended in the 900 block of Washington Boulevard.

Burglary to Auto: A GPS unit was taken sometime between Nov. 18 and Nov. 19 from the front windshield of a 2010 Ford Mustang parked in the 1100 block of North Kenilworth. Entry was gained by breaking the passenger side window. Estimated damage and loss were $250.

Criminal Damage to Auto: Someone jumped on and dented the hood of a 2004 Dodge Neon while it was parked in the 400 block of South Kenilworth Avenue. The incident took place sometime between Nov. 16 and Nov. 17. Estimated damage was $500.

Graffiti Arrest: A 17-year-old from Oak Park and another from River Forest were charged Nov. 19 with vandalizing an AT&T electric box with a marker pen, police said. A witness spotted the pair writing on the box, located in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue, called police and later identified the pair.

Theft: Two UPS packages were stolen Nov. 18 from the foyer of an apartment building in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue. Entry to the foyer was unknown. Estimated loss was $507.

Theft: An unattended wedding band valued at $2,000 was stolen Nov. 18 from an employee at , 483 N. Harlem Ave.

Theft from Auto: A catalytic converter was stolen Nov. 19 from a 2004 Ford Taurus parked in front of a home in the 0-100 block of Le Moyne Parkway. Estimated loss was $200.

Traffic Arrest: Veronica Robles, 35, of Berwyn, was charged with driving on a suspended license and an active warrant out of Oak Park Nov. 19 for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license, police said. Robles was stopped in the 900 block of South Austin Boulevard for driving with one headlight, police said.

DUI Arrest: Adam Spyrka, 74, of Villa Park, was charged Nov. 19 with drunken driving, police said. He was apprehended in the 100 block of North Harlem Avenue.

Criminal Trespass: A 17-year-old from Oak Park was charged with criminal trespass to a building Nov. 20 after he was identified as one of four youths who attempted to get into the , 408 S. Oak Park Ave., police said.

Burglary to Auto: A leather briefcase and purse were taken sometime between Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 from an unlocked 2008 Honda CRV parked in the rear of a building in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,050.

Burglary: A bicycle was stolen sometime between Nov. 18 and Nov. 19 from the garage of a home in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked overhead garage door. Estimated loss was $250.

Retail Theft: Michael Matthews, 43, of Chicago, was charged Nov. 20 with retail theft after attempting to take stocking caps, cologne, perfume, shower gel and lotion from , 345 Madison St., police said The items were valued at $146.
