Oak Park Police Blotter: Man Exposes Himself to Teen

The following information was supplied by the Oak Park Police Department. A charge does not indicate a conviction.

Theft: Curtis L. Dockery, 56, of Chicago was charged Dec. 28 with theft of a package that had been stolen earlier in the day from the front porch of a home in the 100 block of North Taylor Avenue, police said. An officer spotted Dockery riding his bicycle on a sidewalk in the 00 block of Lake Street, package in hand, and then dropped the bundle when the officer approached him, police said.

Residential Burglary: A computer was stolen sometime between Dec. 27 and Dec 29 from an apartment in the 500 block of Wesley Avenue. Entry to the unit was unknown. Estimated loss was $1,200.

Theft: A central air-conditioning unit was stolen sometime between Dec. 28 and Dec. 29 from the rear of Monique Nicole Salon, 26 Chicago Ave. Feed lines and power were cut before the item was removed. Estimated loss was $5,000.

Theft: A baby lamb was stolen sometime between Dec. 28 and Dec. 29 from a life-size nativity scene on the front lawn of a home in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue. Estimated loss was $500.

Burglary to Auto: A digital camera and a pair of running gloves were stolen Dec. 29 from a 2006 Jeep Wrangler parked in the 700 block of South Humphrey Avenue. Estimated loss was $270.

Burglary to Auto: Two bags of DVDs and Pilates rings were stolen Dec. 25 from an unlocked 1996 Honda Civic parked in the 1000 block of South Lombard Avenue. The items were recovered Dec. 28 in the rear yard of a home in the 200 block of Harvard Avenue.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle: Holes were slashed Dec. 21 into the front driver’s side tire of a 2005 Toyota Camry parked in the 100 block of North Oak Park Avenue. Estimated damage was $165.

Unlawful Possession: Antoine Jones, 39, of Kansas City, MO was charged Dec. 28 with unlawful possession of cannabis, police said. Officers found Jones in the 00 block of Pleasant Street with a cannabis-filled cigar behind his left ear and an extra 14 grams of marijuana in his pants pocket.

Disorderly Conduct: After asking where he could get sex tapes, a man, sitting behind the wheel of a car, exposed himself in front of a 19-year-old male walking in the 800 block of Clarence Avenue around 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 28. The victim fled north from the scene. The offender was described as a short, thin man, 20 to 30 years of age with a receding hairline and wearing a red shirt and gray sweatpants.

Theft: A package containing five cell phones was stolen Dec. 28 from the common area of a building in the 800 block of North Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss was $2,245.

Robbery: A backpack containing a laptop, passport and a wallet with miscellaneous ID and debit cards was stolen Dec. 29 from a 43-year-old Oak Park resident who had attempted to run from four men who had tried to take his coat and phone. Around 2:12 a.m. the man was walking in the 00 block of Harrison Street when four men approached him; one asked for a light. When the victim turned to see who asking, him, the man hit the right side of the victim’s head with his fist. One demanded his coat and phone, but the victim refused and fled, falling down as he was trying to escape. One of the offenders then picked up the backpack. The victim then started to flee but fell, at which point his backpack was taken. The four entered a mini-van and drove off east on Harrison. The victim sustained a bruise on a hand as he fell. Estimated loss was $995.

Theft: A bicycle was stolen sometime between Dec. 25 and Dec. 26 from the garage of a home in the 600 block of South Clinton Avenue. The overhead door was open at the time of the incident. Estimated loss was $200.

Burglary to Auto: An in-dash radio/CD player and three wrapped Christmas presents were stolen Dec. 27 from a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 200 block of South Marion Street. Entry was gained by breaking the front passenger side window. Estimated loss is unknown.

Burglary to Garage: A bicycle was stolen Nov. 27 from the garage of a home in the 600 block of Iowa Street. Entry was gained through an unlocked side service door. Estimated loss was $599.

Theft: A purse containing a credit card, makeup and a cell phone was stolen Dec. 24 from a home in the 1000 block of Columbian Avenue. Estimated loss was $600.

Retail Theft: Daniel Davis, 29, of Chicago was charged Dec. 27 with retail theft after he concealed a bottle of Jack Daniels Whisky in his jacket and tried to leave Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 W. Lake St., police said.

Residential Burglary: A lap top, TV and a computer were stolen sometime Between Dec. 26 and Dec. 27 from a home in the 700 block of Columbian Avenue. Entry was gained by pushing a window air conditioning unit into the home. Estimated loss is unknown at this time.

Retail Theft: Hilary Boe, 23, of Round Lake was charged with felony retail theft Dec. 27 after attempting to take two packages of disposable razors and a home pregnancy test from Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 W. Lake St., police said.

Auto Theft: A 1997 Dodge Caravan was stolen Dec. 27 from the rear of a building in the 900 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss is unknown.
