Oak Park Police Blotter: Fake Cash, Food Fracas

The following information was supplied by the Oak Park Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal Damage: A rock damaged a glass window of a house in the 100 block of Le Moyne Parkway sometime between May 3 and May 4. Estimated loss was $500.

Theft: An iPad was taken May 3 from a table in the main lobby at Belmont Village, 1035 Madison St. Estimated loss was $400.

Auto Theft: A 2007 Cadillac Escalade parked in the 0-100 block of Pleasant Avenue was stolen sometime between May 3 and May 4. Estimated loss was $25,000.

Criminal Trespass Arrest: Asberry Stoudemire, 47, of Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to property May 4 after he walked in to Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 Lake St., started to throw things around and refused to leave, police said.

Theft: A laptop and a VCR were stolen sometime between May 2 and May 4 from a storage locker in the basement common area of an apartment building in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue. The lock to the shed was broken with an unknown object. Estimated loss was $1,000.

Burglary: Two bicycles were stolen sometime between May 3 and May 4 from the garage of a home in the 700 block of Lyman Avenue. Entry was gained through an open overhead door. Estimated loss was $375.

Warrant Arrest: Timeka L. Taylor, 20, of Chicago, was arrested May 4 on an active warrant out of Oak Park for failing to appear in court for retail theft, police said. She was apprehended in the 6700 block of Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.

Retail Theft Arrest: Otis L. Thompson, 40, of Chicago was charged with felony retail theft May 5 after concealing six porterhouse and rib steaks in his coat pocket and attempting to leave Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 Lake St., without paying for them, police said. Further investigation revealed he had an active warrant out of Cook County for contempt of court for child support.

Theft: A jacket was stolen May 5 from off the hook in the exercise room at the West Suburban YMCA. Estimated loss was $160.

Burglary: A dish set valued at $200 was stolen sometime between May 2 and May 5 from a storage locker in the common basement area of an apartment building in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue. Estimated loss was $200.

Forgery Arrest: Keith A. Tines, 22, of Chicago, was charged with forgery and retail theft May 5 after he tried to buy a bottle of Sprite with a phony $10 bill, police said.

Auto Theft: A 2007 Toyota Yaris parked in the 400 block of South Kenilworth Avenue was stolen sometime between May 5 and May 6. Estimated loss was $8,000.

Theft: An unlocked bicycle was stolen from the rear courtyard of an apartment building in the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Estimated loss was $70.

Burglary to Auto: A backpack containing photo albums and miscellaneous papers was stolen May 6 from a 2007 Hyundai Sonata parked in the 900 block of Wesley Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the passenger window. The interior also was ransacked. Estimated loss was $300.

Burglary to Auto: A socket set and a drill set were stolen May 5 from a 2003 Jeep 4X4 Liberty parked in the 0-100 block of Garfield Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the rear passenger window with a pry tool. The interior also was ransacked. Estimated loss was $600.

Burglary to Auto: A briefcase and a suit jacket were stolen May 6 from a 2006 Dodge Charger parked in the 900 block of Garfield Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the rear passenger window. Estimated loss was $355.

Burglary: Six feet of copper pipe were stolen sometime between April 20 and May 6 from a water heater inside a home in the 200 block of Lemoyne Avenue. Estimated loss was $150.

Theft: A wallet containing cash, a driver’s license and miscellaneous credit cards was stolen May 6 from a locked locker at the West Cook YMCA, 255 S. Marion St. Estimated loss was $270.

Theft: A scooter was stolen May 7 from a home in the 200 block of South Maple Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the glass on the front entry door and reaching inside to open the door. Estimated loss was $600.

Burglary to Auto: A radio was stolen sometime between May 4 and May 5 from a 2002 Mitsubishi parked in the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking out the front passenger side window. Estimated loss was $250.
