Oak Park Police Blotter: More Bike Thefts
Laptop computers, catalytic converter also among items stolen.
The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Auto Theft: A 2011 Chevrolet Impala parked in the 1100 block of Pleasant Street was taken sometime between Aug. 8 and Aug. 9. Estimated loss was $17,000.
Traffic Arrest: Michael C. Neal, 24, of Chicago, was charged Aug. 9 with driving on a suspended license, driving with an expired registration, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle after a traffic stop in the 500 block of South Austin Boulevard, police said.

Theft: An unlocked mountain bicycle was taken Aug. 9 from the side of a home in the 1000 block of Gunderson Avenue. Estimated loss was $400.
Burglary: Two bicycles were taken sometime between Aug. 2 and Aug. 9 from a wooden shed in the yard of a home in the 600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the locking device. Estimated loss was $650.

Domestic Battery: Joshua O. Loftis, 30, of Oak Park, was charged Aug. 9 with domestic battery, police said. The arrest took place in the 500 block of Augusta Avenue.
Theft: Two laptops were taken sometime between Aug. 7 and Aug. 8 from a home in the 600 block of Highland Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,100.
Theft from Auto: A catalytic converter was taken sometime between Aug. 8 and Aug. 9 from a 2003 Honda Element parked in the 200 block of South Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss was $500.
Disorderly Conduct: Two males from Chicago, one 12 and the other 14, were charged Aug. 8 with disorderly conduct after a resident of the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue warned them police would be called if they climbed over the fence into the yard, police said.
Domestic Battery: A 16-year-old female from Oak Park was charged Aug. 8 with domestic battery, police said. The arrest took place in the 500 block of South Kenilworth Avenue.
Domestic Battery: Pompey Hicks, 27, of Oak Park, was charged Aug. 8 with domestic battery, police said. The arrest took place in the 00 block of Washington Boulevard.
Theft: A bike locked to a fence in the 700 block of Lake Street was taken Aug. 9. Estimated loss was $150.
Theft: A racing bicycle locked to a tree in the 400 block of North Marion Street sometime between Aug. 6 and Aug. 8. Estimated loss was $1,000.
