Oak Park Police Blotter: Old Glory Snatched from Three Homes

Expensive diaper bag stolen, wheelchair swiped, and more.

Theft: Three American flags were stolen from three homes in the 700 block of South Euclid Avenue sometime between July 28 and July 29. estimated loss was more than $105.

Criminal Damage: The trunk and rear bumper of a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe parked in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard were scratched sometime between July 28 and July 29.

Residential Burglary: A 36-inch television, two laptop computers and a X-box game console were taken sometime between July 28 and July 29 from a home in the 700 block of Belleforte Avenue. Entry was gained by pushing in the locked basement door. Estimated loss was $4,500.

Vehicle theft: A 1997 Honda CR-V was taken sometime between July 29 and July 30 from the 700 block of Highland Avenue.

Theft: A 7-speed bicycle was taken from the 300 block of Linden Avenue sometime between July 21 and July 26. The estimated loss was not available.

Criminal Damage: A 6-foot-by-6-foot double plate glass window was broken on the corner of the US Bank, 11 Madison St.

Theft Arrests: A 12-year-old male and a 13-year-old male, both from Chicago were charged with attempting to take a bicycle from the yard of a home in the 400 block of South Harvey Avenue, police said. The boys were turned over to their parents.

Robbery: An Oak Park resident was cut above the left eye after he was punched by one of two men who robbed him in the early morning hours of July 31. The victim was walking in the 100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue when he was approached from behind by two men. One demanded the victim’s Blackberry and struck the victim in the face with his fist. The offenders ran south on Ridgeland.

Burglary: A chrome wheelchair was taken sometime between July 28 and July 31 from a locked storage safe on the east side of Longfellow Center, 610 S. Ridgeland Ave.

Domestic Battery: Joe Johnson, 37, of Oak Park, was charged with domestic battery after a July 31 incident in the 1000 block of North Boulevard, police said.

Burglary: A bicycle was stolen sometime between July 30 and July 31 from the closed garage of a home in the 700 block of South Humphrey Avenue. Estimated loss was $350.

Theft: A cable lock was damaged and a 21-speed hybrid bicycle stolen July 31 from a rack at the transportation Center, 1100 block of North Boulevard. Estimated loss was $315.

Burglary: Two laptops and a Coach Diaper bag were stolen from the unlocked door of a home in the 400 block of South Euclid Avenue. Estimated loss was $850; approximately $600 of that for the diaper bag.
