Oak Park Police Blotter: Pink Graffiti, Pot Charges, Cash Grabs

Residential burglaries, thefts from homes and more.

The following items are taken from  daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft: A $300 cell phone, left near the register at Denny’s, 711 N. Harlem, was reported stolen on April 14.

Theft: A blue and grey backpack containing school items was reported stolen April 14 from the vestibule of a doorway on the 300 block of West Madison Street. The loss was estimated at $175.

Theft: A cash box containing $210 was reported stolen April 14 from the Oak Park , 211 N. Oak Park Ave.

Criminal Damage: The driver’s side door of a 2001 Buick parked on the 400 block of North Taylor was reported dented on April 13.

Criminal Damage: The support railing of an awning was reported pulled away from the wall on April 13 at the , 100 S. Marion St.  

Criminal Damage: Two exterior storm windows were removed and an interior window was broken on April 13 at a home on the 100 block of South Humphrey Avenue.

Theft: A 15-foot copper downspout was reported stolen on April 13 from a home on the 300 block of North Taylor Avenue. The theft took place between March 29 and April 11, police said.

Theft: Cosmetics valued at nearly $1,500 were reported stolen April 13 from Walgreens, 811 Madison St.

Marijuana Possession: A male juvenile from Chicago was arrested and charged outside of Calvary Memorial Church, 931 Lake St., and charged with possession of marijuana on April 13, police said.  

Battery: A male juvenile from Berwyn was arrested on the 6300 of West Roosevelt Road and charged with battery and obstruction of a police officer on April 13, police said.

Drug Possession: Richard Esler of Aurora was arrested and charged on April 13 with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said. The arrest took place on the 800 block of South Austin Boulevard.

Theft: A copper gutter was reported stolen on April 13 from a home on the 200 block of South Humphrey Avenue.

Outside Warrant: Brandon Wilkerson of Oak Park was arrested and charged on April 13 for an outstanding Cook County drunk driving warrant, police said.  

Theft: A boy’s bicycle valued at $300, was reported stolen on April 13 from a garage in the 300 block of North Grove Avenue.

Theft: A wallet containing cash, credit cards and a Social Security card was reported stolen on April 13 from the purse of a woman at Five Guys Burger & Fries, 1115 Lake St.

Criminal Defacement: Three Oak Park juveniles were arrested and charged on April 13 with defacing property at , police said. The incident took place on April 11. One of the juveniles also was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

DUI Charge: Jose Robles of Round Lake was arrested and charged with aggravated drunk driving on April 13 for a traffic crash that took place in the 400 block of South Austin Boulevard, police said.

Criminal Damage: The hood of a 2003 Honda Accord parked on the 200 block of North Scoville Avenue on April 13 was reported scratched.

Theft: Anthony Urban of Chicago was arrested and charged on April 13 with stealing a bicycle from a home on the 1100 block of North Linden Avenue, police said.

Attempt Theft: Luis Delgado of Chicago was arrested and charged on April 13 with attempted theft in a home on the 400 block of Home Avenue, police said.

Theft: Jewelry with an estimated value of $3,300 was reported stolen on April 11 from a home in the 1000 block of North Linden Avenue. The theft took place between March 28 and April 11.

Criminal Damage: A glass window was reported broken on April 12 at Advance Physical Medicine, 6931 W. North Ave.

Assault: Joseph Mitchell of Chicago was arrested and charged on April 12 with assault and disorderly conduct, police said.

Hindering Arrest: A female juvenile from Chicago was arrested and charged on April 12 with hindering a police officer, police said.

DUI Charge: Bobby Richardson of Chicago was arrested and charged on April 13 with driving under the influence and cited for other traffic violations, police said.

Criminal Trespass: Samantha DeMichael of Chicago was arrested and charged on April 12 with trespassing on Chicago Transit Authority property in the 800 block of South Oak Park Avenue, police said.

Theft of Services: Larry J. Goetz of Chicago was arrested and charged on April 12 with failing to pay a cab fare, police said.

Theft: A woman was convinced on April 12 by two females to withdraw $1,000 from Chase Bank, 1048 Lake St., and then was driven to another bank and left.

Theft: Two gold necklaces estimated at $3,300 were reported stolen between March 28 and April 4 from a home in the 1000 block of Linden Avenue.

Burglary: The center console of a vehicle parked in the rear of a home in the 400 block of North Humphrey Avenue was reported ransacked on April 11.

Criminal Damage: The windows of a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta parked in the 500 block of North Lombard Avenue were reported smashed on April 11. Damage was estimated at $800.

Criminal Damage: Three dime-sized dents were reported made, apparently with a rock, on April 11 on the hood of a 2010 Audi parked in the rear parking lot of a building on the 300 block of Wisconsin Avenue. 

Criminal Damage: Four teenagers on April 11 were reported to have kicked autos parked April 11 in an alley on the 200 block of South Oak Park Avenue.

Theft: Two sets of golf clubs and an electrical cord – all valued at an estimated $1,315 - were reported stolen April 11 from a garage on the 900 block of South Euclid Avenue.

Domestic Battery: A male juvenile was arrested on April 11 and charged with domestic battery, police said.

Retail Theft: Annette Ortiz of Elmwood Park was charged with retail theft April 11 at , 417 N. Harlem Ave., police said.

Theft: Bicycles with an estimated value of $450 were reported stolen from the garage of a home in the 1100 block of South Euclid Avenue.

Residential Burglary: Electronic equipment estimated at $1,800 was reported stolen from a home in the 0-100 block of Chicago Avenue.

Theft of Service: A woman exited a cab on the 1000 block of Randolph without paying her $41 fare.

Robbery: A bank bag containing an estimated $3,978 was stolen from an employee at Denny’s, 711 N. Harlem Ave., on April 10.

Residential Burglary: Cash and a black leather jacket, totaling $5,150 were reported stolen on April 10 from a residence on South Kenilworth Avenue.

Graffiti: The north outside wall of was spray painted with pink paint on April 11.

Criminal Damage: A smoke bomb melted part of the rear seat of a 2009 Volkswagen parked in the 200 block of North Oak Park Avenue on April 11.
