Oak Park Police Blotter: Power Tools Stolen, Drinking Party Busted, Drug Charges

Cops break up underage drinking party; man loses shirt in scuffle between strangers; multiple domestic battery charges handed out and more.

The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Battery: A person walking in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard was approached from behind and grabbed by the neck on April 2. After kicking and screaming, the offender released the victim and fled the area on foot.

Theft: A spare tire mounted on the rear of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of South Maple Avenue was stolen on April 2. The estimated loss is $200.

Burglary: A GPS device, valued at $450, was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of North Oak Park Avenue between April 1 and April 2.

Criminal Trespass: Larry E. Gaylor, 29, of 5524 W. Cortez St. in Chicago, was charged with criminal trespassing on a property in the 700 block of South Humphrey Avenue on April 1, police said.

Marijuana Possession: Alexander L. Brown, 27, of 6915 Cermak Road in Berwyn, was charged with marijuana possession and having no valid driver's license in the 6200 block of Roosevelt Road on April 1, police said.

Theft: A spare tire, valued at $300, was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of North Grove Avenue between March 31 and April 1.

Theft: Copper downspouts, valued at $500, were stolen from a residence in the 700 block of South East Avenue between March 31 and April 1.

Burglary: A Cadillac wheel and a set of golf clubs were stolen from a garage in the 300 block of South Oak Park Avenue between March 29 and April 1. The estimated loss is $1,150.

Car Theft: A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from the 6500 block of North Avenue on March 30. The estimated loss is $4,000.

Battery Charges: Two male juveniles were charged with battery in the 400 block of Austin Boulevard on March 30, police said.

Burglary: Two chainsaws, two leaf blowers and two hedge trimmers were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue on March 30. The estimated loss is $2,700.

Drug Possession: John M. Cleary, 28, of 803 Fillmore St., was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the 700 block of South Austin Boulevard on March 29, police said.

Car Theft: A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from the 800 block of North Euclid Avenue on March 29. The estimated loss is $5,000.

Criminal Damage Charge: Derrick A. Lynn, 26, of 9958 S. 84th Ave. in Palos Hills, was charged with criminal damage after an incident in the 600 block of Washington Boulevard on March 29, police said.

Burglary: A GPS navigation device was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 900 block of North Austin Boulevard between March 28 and March 29. The estimated loss is $300.

Armed Robbery Charges: Three male juveniles from Chicago were charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery and mob action in the 1100 block of South Lyman Avenue on March 28, police said.

Theft of Services: A customer at , 1122 Madison St., received a full service oil change and then drove away without paying on March 28. The estimated loss is $48.

Domestic Battery: Marlon D. Jackson, 27, of 118 Belvidere Ave. in Forest Park, was arrested on signed complaints dating from Feb. 17 and charged with domestic battery and unlawful interference with reporting of domestic violence that occurred in the 1300 block of South Lombard Avenue in Berwyn on March 28, police said.

Burglary: A snowblower was stolen from a garage in the 500 block of North Forest Avenue between March 25 and March 28. The estimated loss is $799.

Burglary: A 30-foot aluminum ladder, a lawn mower and a wood chipper were stolen from a garage in the 100 block of South Scoville Avenue on March 27. The estimated loss is $800.

Retail Theft Charge: Luz E. Gonzalez, 26, of 2437 Clarence Ave. in Berwyn, was charged with retail theft after Gonzalez was caught stealing at , 6226 Roosevelt Rd., on March 27, police said.

Theft Charge: A Chicago juvenile was charged with theft in the 0-100 block of Erie Court on March 27, police said.

Domestic Battery: Tavares S. Jones, 26, of 733 N. Waller Ave. in Chicago, was charged with domestic battery and unlawful interference with reporting of domestic violence that occurred in the 100 block of Greenfield Street on March 27, police said.

Battery: A resident in the 300 block of South Maple Avenue had his shirt torn off after attempting to break up a fight between two male teenagers in front of his apartment complex on March 27. According to reports, the victim dodged a punch before one of the offenders grabbed his shirt and ripped it from his body.

Aggravated Assault: A juvenile in the 900 block of Wesley Avenue was threatened with a revolver by a pair of offenders on March 27. According to reports, the victim was about to fight one of the offenders before he flashed a handgun and chased him down the block with it.

Theft: A cell phone was stolen from a dressing room at , 728 Lake St., on March 27. The estimated loss is $350.

Retail Theft Charge: Jennifer Guerrero, of 1905 S. Lombard Ave. in Berwyn, was charged with retail theft after she was caught stealing from Walgreens, 6412 Roosevelt Rd., on March 26, police said.

Bike Theft: A bicycle was stolen in the 1100 block of Lake Street on March 26. The estimated loss is $1,400.

Theft: A purple backpack containing a DVD player and cash was stolen from the , 834 W. Lake St., on March 26. The estimated loss is $46.

Theft: An iPod touch was stolen from the men's locker room at , 505 Washington Blvd., on March 26. The estimated loss is $150.

Burglary: A GPS device and a gray binder containing miscellaneous papers were stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue between March 25 and 26. The estimated loss is $410.

Obstructing a Peace Officer: Jon J. McClane, of 6404 W. 13th St. in Berwyn, was charged with obstructing a peace officer in the 400 block of South Kenilworth Avenue on March 25, police said.

Burglary: A Blackberry cell phone charger was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 600 block of Lexington Street on March 25. The estimated loss is $40.

Domestic Battery Charge: Samantha Begoun, 24, of 429 S. Scoville Ave., was charged with domestic battery at her home on March 25, police said.

Underage Drinking Party: A male juvenile was issued a local ordinance citation for hosting an underage drinking party on March 25, police said.

Burglary: Two saws were stolen from a garage in the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue on March 22. The estimated loss is $200.

Burglary: Miscellaneous laundry was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Cuyler Avenue between March 20 and March 22. The estimated loss is $250.
