Oak Park Police Blotter: Purse Stolen, Property Damaged

Driver leaves without paying at garage, outside warrant arrests and more.

The following items are taken from the daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Outside Warrant: Rogelio Ibarra, 32, of Berkeley, was arrested Sept. 19 on an outstanding warrant out of Chicago for retail theft, police said. His apprehension was the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of North Humphrey Avenue.

Criminal Damage: An aluminum gate was damaged Sept. 16 when a Toyota Rav4 exited the Avenue Parking Garage, 700 block of North Boulevard, without paying. Estimated damage was $300.

Theft: A locked 21-inch, 10-speed bicycle, was stolen sometime between Sept. 19 and Sept. 20 from the 800 block of South Oak Park Avenue. The combination cable lock that secured the bicycle to a support pole was cut. Estimated loss was $100.

Outside Warrant: Herman Walker, 39, of Minnesota, was charged Sept. 20 with driving without a valid license after a traffic stop of 400 block of West Pleasant Avenue, where officers found he also had an outstanding warrant out of Naperville for driving on a suspended license, police said.

Burglary to Auto: A purse containing miscellaneous credit and identification cards and $1 in change were stolen Sept. 20 from an unlocked 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer parked at , 333 Lake St. Estimated loss was $51.

Burglary to Garage: A GPS unit and $3 in change were taken sometime between Sept. 19 and Sept. 20 from an unlocked 2003 Buick Rendezvous parked in the garage of a home in the 900 block of Wenonah Avenue. Entry was gained through a closed, but unlocked, side service door. Estimated loss was $153.

Burglary to Auto: A leather wallet containing $400 and miscellaneous identification cards and a laptop were stolen Sept. 20 from an unlocked 2006 Cadillac STS parked in the 400 block of North Humphrey Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,220.

Outside Warrant: A 16-year-old from Bellwood was arrested Sept. 20 on a warrant out of Bellwood for failing to appear in court on a charge of aggravated assault, police said. An officer found the youth during questioning of riders of a car that had been pulled over in the 300 block of Lake Street for having an unattached front license plate.

Theft: Approximately $150 was stolen Sept. 19 from a bedroom of a home in the 1000 block of North Euclid Avenue.

Outside Warrant: Schanel C. Shaw, 29 of Chicago, was charged Sept. 19 with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the 1600 block of North Austin Boulevard, police said. During an investigation t the scene, officers found she also had an outstanding warrant out of Lake County for forgery, police said.
