Oak Park Police Blotter: SUV Stolen, Playground Battery

Also reported: burglar steals plates, candles and body wash.

The following items are taken from  daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Auto Theft: A 2006 Toyota Sequoia parked in the 1100 block of Edmer Avenue was stolen sometime between Sept. 1 and Sept. 2. A set of golf clubs and a child seat were inside. Estimated loss was $45,000.

Residential Burglary: Ten dinner plates, two bottles of body wash and three candles were taken sometime between Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 from an apartment in the 800 block of South Austin Boulevard. Estimated loss was $129.

Battery: Frank Schoiber, 25, of Oak Park, was charged Sept. 3 with battery after placing a female driver in a chokehold following a disagreement outside , 11 N. Harlem Ave., police said.

Theft: An unsecured 26-inch bicycle was taken Sept. 3 from a front yard home in the 1000 block of Hayes Avenue. Estimated loss is $200.

Domestic Battery: Christopher C. Diaz, 20 of Oak Park, was charged Sept. 3 with domestic battery, police said. The arrest took place in the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.

Burglary to Vehicle: Tools were taken Sept. 3 from a 2004 GMC van parked in the 1100 block of Linden Avenue. Entry was gained by cutting the pad lock that secured the vehicle’s rear bay door. Estimated loss was $1,250.

DUI Arrest: Steffon L. Robinson, 49, of Chicago, was charged Sept. 4 with drunken driving after authorities found him slumped over the wheel of his car near Lake Street and Austin Boulevard, police said.

Outside Warrant: John P. Martin, 37, of Maywood, was charged Sept. 4 with driving on a suspended license and arrested on a DuPage County warrant after a traffic stop in the 7200 block of Randolph Street in Forest Park, police said.

DUI Arrest: Lanny Lutz, 69, of Oak Park, was charged Sept. 4 with drunken driving and transporting open liquor, police said. The arrest took place in the 200 block of South Euclid Avenue.

Warrant Arrest: Eddie L. Pittman, 52, of Chicago, was arrested Sept. 4 on an active Oak Park warrant for failing to appear in court for driving on a suspended license. The arrest took place in the 500 block of North Harlem Avenue. The warrant had been issued in 2006, police said.

Theft: An iPhone was taken Sept. 4 from inside of a home in the 900 block of North Humphrey Avenue.

Theft: A bicycle locked to a rack in the 800 block of Lake Street was stolen Sept. 5. A helmet and chain were also taken. Estimated loss was $145.

Battery Arrest: A 15-year-old from Orland Hills was charged with battery Sept. 5 after roughhousing on the playground at , 715 S. Highland Ave., police said.

Residential Burglary: A digital camera, two video games and miscellaneous jewelry were taken between Sept. 1 and Sept. 5 from a home in the 900 block of South Taylor Avenue. Entry was gained through the closed, but unlocked, rear porch window. Two bedrooms were ransacked. Estimated loss was $2,475.
