Oak Park Police Blotter: Two Arrested in Strong-Arm Robbery

Oak Park Police Reports, June 20 - First Watch June 22.

THURSDAY, JUNE 21

Burglary

Sonja Myrick, 34, of Chicago, was charged with burglary after she took a flat screen television from the Write Inn Hotel, 211 N. Oak Park Ave., police said. Wright inn. She was picked up in the area of Madison and Pine in Chicago.  

Theft

A bicycle locked to a rack at Oak Park-River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville Ave., was stolen. Estimated loss was $420.

Robbery Arrest

Julian D. Peavy, 18, of Joliet, and Devantae Reynolds, 19, of Chicago,   were charged with robbery after they were identified as the offenders who punched a 17-year-old in the face and swiped his backpack from his shoulder, police said. After the June 20 incident, which was in the 900 block of South Lombard Avenue, the pair were caught after a footchase in the 100 block of South Austin, police said. 

Felony Retail Theft Arrest

Andrew A. Foreman, 26, of Chicag,  was charged with felony retail theft after he put a bottle of vodka in his pants pocket and attempted to leave Dominick’s Finer Foods, 259 Lake St., without paying for it, police said.

Theft

A unattended bag of groceries was stolen from the rear area of an apartment building in the 400 block of South Harvey Avenue. Estimated loss was $40.

June 20-21

Theft

A White Sox flag was broken off a plastic poll attached to the front porch of a home in the 900 block of North Taylor Avenue. Estimated loss was $45.

Theft from Auto

A catalytic converter was cut off a Honda Element parked in the rear of a home in the 300 block of Wesey Avenue. Estimated loss was $1,700.

Criminal Damage

The rear window on a 2000 Honda CRV parked in the 800 block of North Taylor Avenue was broken with a paving brick. Estimated damage was $300.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20

Outside Warrant

Jose A. Martinez, 36, of Chicago, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for driving without a license, police said. He was apprehended after a traffic stop in the 1500 block of North Harlem Avenue.

Traffic Arrest

Sonja Hilson, 28, of Oak Park, was charged with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue, police said.

Outside Warrant

Mia Toliver, 24, of Chicago, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Kendall County for driving on a suspended license, police said. Toliver was a passenger in a car that was stopped for a traffic violation in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue.

June 19-June 20

Burglary

A laptop, an iPod and an iPad, and a DVD disk were stolen from United Method Church when someone got into the officer through a closed, but unlocked, window. Esitmated loss was $1,578.

TUESDAY, JUNE 19

Theft

A bicycle was stolen from the side of a home in the 1100 block of South Euclid Avenue. Estimated loss ws $200.
