Oak Park Police Blotter: Pair Arrested After Attempted Purse Snatching

Burglary to Auto: Car stereo equipment valued at $1,100 was stolen Nov. 29 from a 1999 Honda Civic parked in the rear of the 900 block of South Humphrey Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking the rear driver’s door window.
Burglary: A bicycle and an assortment of tools were stolen sometime between Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 from the garage of a home in the 700 block of South Harvey Avenue. Entry was gained by opening an unlocked service door. Estimated loss was $1,710.
Retail Theft: Five bottles of high-end tequila were stolen Nov. 29 from , 7036 Roosevelt Rd., when one man put the items in a shopping bag while his accomplice distracted employees. Offenders fled the scene on foot east in the alley behind the store. Estimated loss was $120.

Battery Arrest: Demetrius C. Jones, 19, of Chicago, was charged with battery Nov. 29 after pushing a 17-year-old female, police said. Jones was apprehended in the 700 block of North Boulevard.
Attempted Armed Robbery: A 17-year-old from Oak Park was nearly robbed at knifepoint Nov. 28 when an offender, displaying a 6-inch hunting blade, approached him in the 200 block of Madison Street around 8:10 a.m. and demanded his wallet. The victim ran away from the scene.

Theft: A UPS package containing a laptop computer was stolen Nov. 21 from the lobby of a building in the 1000 block of Erie Street. Estimated loss was unknown.
Theft Arrest: A 15-year-old Berwyn resident was charged Nov. 28 with theft after he admitted to taking a bicycle from a customer at Popeye’s Chicken, 610 Madison St., because the bike resembled one that had been taken from a cousin, police said. The teen was apprehended in the 00 block of South Boulevard.
