Oak Park Police Blotter: Wine and Lotion Stolen

Battery arrests, auto burglaries and more reported.

The following items are taken from daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft: A purse containing cash, a driver’s license and bank cards, was stolen May 19 from a locker at the . Entry was gained by breaking the lock. Estimated loss was $55.

Warrant Arrest: Bradwicke Winters, 44, of Chicago, was charged May 19 on a 16-year-old Oak Park warrant for driving on a suspended license, police said. The arrest took place when police pulled him over in the 6700 block of Roosevelt Road for a cracked front windshield. He was also charged for driving on a suspended license for this incident, police said.

Retail Theft: A female juvenile was charged May 19 with retail theft after taking a bottle of wine from Jewel-Osco, 438 W. Madison St., police said. The young woman was picked up later in the 200 block of South Scoville Avenue, police said.

Criminal Damage: A 3-inch-by-6-inch window pane of a building in the 1000 block of Ontario Street was broken. The incident took place between May 15 and May 19 when the damage was reported to police. The estimated damage was unknown.

Vehicle Theft: A 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix parked in the garage of a home in the 400 block of North Humphrey Street was stolen May 18. The keys were left in the ignition. Estimated loss was $6,000.

Residential Burglary: Approximately $700 in cash was stolen on from a home in the 700 block of North Austin Boulevard. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door with a ¼-inch pry tool. Estimated loss was $900.

Auto Burglary: A Garmin GPS unit was stolen from a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta parked in the 800 block of Wenonah Avenue. Entry was gained by opening an unlocked rear driver’s side door. Estimated loss was $335.

Criminal Damage: BB pellets shattered the driver’s side window of a 2004 Toyota Camry parked in the 500 block of Washington Boulevard. The incident took place between May 16 and 17 when it was reported to police. Estimated damage was $200.

Marijuana Possession: A report of two suspicious men walking in the 1100 block of South Austin Boulevard on May 17 led to the arrest and charges lodged against Mucio Ramirez, 33, of Cicero, for possession of marijuana, police said.

Auto Burglary: A drill was stolen May 16 from a 2000 Dodge Ram minivan parked in the 800 block of Wenonah Avenue. Entry was gained by unlocking a door once a window had been broken. The estimated loss was $350.

Attempted Burglary: The center cover and lug nuts on a 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV were removed and then left at the scene in the 0-100 block of Pleasant Street on May 16. There was no apparent damage or loss.

Auto Burglary: A Tom Tom GPS unit, mount and charger, cell phone and change were stolen May 16 from a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix parked in the 200 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Total estimated loss was $202.

Attempted Auto Burglary: The interior and trunk of a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier parked in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue were ransacked on May 16 but no loss was reported. Entry to the car was unknown.

Attempted Auto Burglary: The interior and trunk of a 2008 Toyota Corolla parked in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue were ransacked May 16 but no loss was reported. Entry to the car was unknown.

Auto Burglary: Approximately $1 in change was stolen May 16 from a 2011 Nissan Sentra parked in the 1000 Wisconsin Avenue. Once entry was gained, by unknown means, the interior and trunk were ransacked.

Retail Theft: Five bottles of skin moisturizer, three bottles of wrinkle serum, two bottles of skin cream and two bars of cocoa butter soap, valued at a combined $177.78, were stolen from , 345 Madison St., May 16.

Criminal Damage: Paint was splashed over an overhead door to the garage of an apartment building in the 1100 block of North Ontario Avenue and the decorative glass in the front door was broken with a rock on May 16. Estimated damage was $1,000.

Criminal Damage: The driver’s side view mirror of a Honda Odyssey minivan parked in the 1100 block of South East Avenue was reported broken May 13. The estimated damage was $250.

Warrant Arrest: Kendrick Hoggan, 37, of Maywood, was arrested on May 13 in the 800 block of Fillmore on an outside warrant from Stone Park for disobeying a traffic control device, driving without a license and driving on a revoked license, police said.

Theft: A mountain bicycle valued at $600 was stolen May 13 from the rear yard of a home in the 700 block of Highland Avenue. The item was unsecured at the time. Estimated loss was $600.

Domestic Battery: Hulbert Plaza, 27, of Elmwood Park, was charged with domestic battery after a May 13 incident in the 800 block of Lake Street, police said.

Vehicle Theft: A 2005 Chevrolet Town & Country minivan parked in the 900 block of Chicago Avenue was stolen May 14. A checkbook, driver’s license and $60 were in the automobile. Estimated loss was $15,060.

Theft: A Weber grill was stolen May 14 from the open porch area outside the door of an apartment in the 400 block of South Euclid Avenue. The loss was estimated at $50.

Residential Burglary: Approximately $300 in cash, $4 in quarters and two checks were stolen May 14 from a home in the 300 block of Forest Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear door. The estimated loss was $404.

Theft: Approximately $10 was stolen May 14 from the tip jar at Starbucks, 1018 Lake St., by a teenager who was last seen in the area of 100 Forest Place. A 14-year-old boy from Oak Park was arrested and charged on May 15 in connection with the theft and released to his guardian, police said.

Criminal Damage: An 8-foot palm plant on May 14 was stolen from a planter and thrown on the floor of a building in the 1000 block of Lake Street. Graffiti was also scrawled on a closet door inside of the building. Estimated damage was $400.

Warrant Arrest: Grace Basciano, 19, of Villa Park, was arrested May 14 on an outside warrant from DuPage County for possession of a controlled substance, police said.

DUI Charge: Antoine Henderson, 39, of Chicago, was charged with drunk driving on May 15 in the 700 block of Jackson Boulevard after an officer spotted her asleep behind the wheel of a 2008 Hyundai Sonata parked in the 700 block of Jackson Boulevard, police said.

Burglary: A wooden bookshelf was damaged and a fire extinguisher was dispersed throughout the floor of a building in the 900 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. The incident took place between May 13 and May 15. Entry was gained breaking the glass window to a room and unlocking the door. Estimated damage was $500.

Garage Burglary: A mountain bike, leaf blower, chain saw and weed trimmer were stolen from the garage of a home in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked side service door. The incident took place between May 12 and May 15 when it was reported to police. The estimated loss was $575.

Vehicle Theft: A 2005 Infiniti G35X was stolen May 13 from the rear apron of a home in the 300 block of North East Avenue. The car was later recovered May 13 parked in the 5700 block of West Superior Street in Chicago.

Auto Burglary: Approximately $10 in change was stolen May 13 from a 1999 Dodge Caravan parked in the 800 block of Wesley Avenue. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear hatch door.

Auto Burglary: A watch and $3 in change were stolen May 12 from a Land Rover parked in the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of North Lombard. Entry was gained by breaking a car window. The estimated loss was $553.

Battery: Five male juveniles from Chicago were arrested and charged with battery on May 12 when a verbal dispute that took place among the teens in the 600 block of West Madison escalated into the battery charge, police said. They were arrested in the 400 block of South Elmwood Avenue, police said. The teens were turned over to their parents.

Battery: Yanet Duarte, 25, of Franklin Park, was charged with battery May 12 after spitting in the face of a security guard at West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Ct., police said. Duarte was a hospital visitor at the time of the incident, police said.

Auto Burglary: A Sirius radio was stolen May 13 from a 2007 Saturn Ion parked in a lot in the 600 block of Harrison Street. Entry was gained by breaking the front passenger door window and reaching in to unlock of the door. Estimated damage was $130.

Theft: A wallet, containing cash, bank and credit cards and a driver’s license, was reported stolen on May 12 from a customer at , 438 W. Madison St. Estimated loss was $16.
