Oak Park Woman Robbed at Gunpoint

Handgun brandished, iPhone swiped in early Saturday attack.

An Oak Park motorist was robbed at gunpoint as she parked in the alley behind her home, police said.

The attack took place about 3 a.m. Saturday, when the 25-year-old woman was returning to her home in the 1000 block of South Austin Boulevard, according to a police report.

An armed man approached the victim, aimed a small handgun at her and demanded cash.  The woman claimed not to have any money and ran from the gunman, police said.

She was not hurt.

When the driver returned to her car, she noticed her iPhone was missing. The device was valued at $200.

The gunman was described as a white male about 19 or 20 years old, roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He has black hair, and wore a white T-shirt and knee-length, light blue shorts. 

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Oak Park Police Department at 708-386-3800.
